We are team of two people namely Varun Gupta and Vijay Nagar. We announce that we will be running 42 km ladakh marathon on 10th September 2017 to fundraise solar lantern for those who don’t have access to electricity and bring mass impact in the lives of people living without power and allowing them realize their lost dream. Last year we both ran 21km ladakh marathon to raise fund to buy solar lantern and managed to raised fund to light up more than 40 houses and impacted more than 100 lives in short time. Thanks to all the donors who supported and contributed towards our campaign. 

Unlike other marathons, Ladakh Marathon requires you to arrive in Leh atleast a week in advance to acclimatize for race day. In ladakh marathon, participants run at 3800-3500m above sea level, thereby, demanding fitness of the highest level to get through the challenge.

Let me introduce our work and our past association with running. We have been in the habit of running marathon for past couple of years now. Recently we had completed 42km IDBI Fedral insurance full marathon, 21km ladakh marathon2016, 21km ladakh marathon2015 and several other half marathons in our quest to get completely fit and confident enough to run any distance in all conditions.

We all know the benefits of electricity in today’s modern time. For many of us, life can’t exist without it. But people living in remote areas are still comfortable living in the dark and rely on kerosene lamp for their daily activities. By doing this, these groups of people are damaging their health and killing their children dreams of becoming successful in life.

To overcome this challenge, we are running a Champaign LIGHTING UP INDIA since the past two years.

Lighting up India is an initiative where we organize solar workshops and educate people about solar in areas of no or less electricity on how it can be great help and game changer for them. As the name speak for itself, under this campaign we distribute solar lantern to community present in the areas of no electricity and help them replace kerosene lamp with solar lamps to enable them to build a better future for themselves.

Under Lighting up India, we intent to reach and touch the lives of thousands of people living in the darkness.

Being working as a solar professional full time enables us to give enough reasons to bring light to every rural household as it is slim, compact, easy to use, no maintenance and get easily charged through sun. Solar lantern is the cleanest form of alternate energy available at affordable cost which gets recharged during the day through sun and gets utilized during night.

It will be tough, it will be painful, it will be tiring, it will make push our limit to maximum but happiness to lighten up 4000 homes is far above these small limitations and pain.
