Started as a celebration of anniversary of the classical status to Odia language two years back, LangFest (short for Language Festival) this year goes beyond Odia or any one language.
With a theme of 'Mother Tongue for Development', LangFest2017, will be a platform to discuss how languages and dialects can develop, enrich themselves, by having dialogues, interactions and not by drawing lines. A major thrust will also be on deciding on the actions to make Indian languages suitable for use as languages of occupation. Many globally recognized linguists, writers, policymakers, administrators, professionals, artists and performers, among others have consented to be part of the program.
A full day is dedicated to youth programs on how mother tongue can be both useful and cool!
The festival needs funds for hosting the event, as well as for publishing a souvenir with contributed pieces from eminent experts.
