Krithika and I firmly believe that making education available for all can help transform society. Being a special needs teacher herself, Krithika thought that we could use the occasion of our wedding on March 4th 2018 to raise funds to help a cause we firmly believe in "access for people with disability".
We would like to jointly raise funds with your support, for Chetana Charitable Trust (www.chetana.org.in) who develop locally relevant solutions to issues in child development, disability, health and education. One of Chetana's main project is the "Adapted Books Online Library" which was born from noticing that literacy skills were poor to non-existent among children with disabilities – across varied disabilities and including those who receive early intervention services. It targets the youngest readers with disability for whom reading materials are yet become a readily available in the market. Their adaptations to books include audio recordings, braille, large prints, pictures, tactile and story objects.
The library is based in Chennai and reaches out to children in the city through a partnership with Little Sparks, a mainstream library that provides a home delivery services for their members. As reading is very strongly correlated with early, rich and pleasurable exposure to books, Krithika and I would like to help Chetana's Library grow in size and help more kids enjoy the pleasure of reading.
For every rupee that you contribute, we will match the contribution from our end. The funds raised through this campaign will be matched upto Rs. 200,000 in total. However, you can still contribute to our fundraising campaign after the Rs. 200,000 goal is achieved.
