et us not leave them adrift

Friends from all over the world have been generous with support for all those in Kerala who have been subjected to the recent horror of floods. And the compassion of the people in this state has been manifest in the rescue operations, the bulk of which has been done by the informal collectives of citizens.
Unfortunately, those among the affected people who were already battling a serious health condition (including children and the elderly) suffer many times more than others. The magnitude of their suffering can be beyond our power of imagination.
Judging from our experience with humanitarian crises in the past, while the immediate rescue operations would go on in full swing, those affected tend to be forgotten after the initial wave of compassion. Many of them would be forced to have a sort of provisional existence while still half-submerged in the social, physical and emotional suffering.
We announce this campaign, “Let us not leave them adrift” to make sure that patients and families affected by flood while already afflicted by diseases will continue to be supported till they get back on their own feet. We shall operate not only from our headquarters in Trivandrum, but also through Kerala branch of Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) and all our partners in the rest of the state.
All palliative care volunteers, we are sure, will be engaged in relief activities in their own localities. But many areas would not have access to palliative care doctors.
Our plea:
  1. Palliative care doctors willing to contribute their time to visit other affected areas, please let us know your name, email ID, mobile number, Whatsapp number and location.
  2. Do please contribute to the cause. We hope to generate a fund which will last us through the necessary process of rehabilitation; but will start with an immediate target of Indian Rupees 25 lakhs (US$ 36,000).
