Story

Hello,

The Gaja Cyclone has caused tremendous damage to the coastal districts of Tanjore, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Pudukkottai and has severely affected the livelihood of all the people. Estimates suggest that the calamity caused by this cyclone must be very close to the one that was created by cyclone Thane in Cuddalore a few years ago. These districts are facing the greatest disaster that we can not even imagine. A large number of trees have fallen across these districts. Even the electric poles and mobile towers didn't escape the impact of the winds. Since the storm destroyed lot of houses many people are suffering without proper shelter, and since the sea water flooded the Vedaranyam region, the farmlands have become unfit for agriculture for many years. It is saddening to hear the news that there are several instances of loss of human life too.

It is our foremost duty to stand on the ground with the people and help rebuild their lives in this tragic time where the coastal regions have been destroyed. So, I request all kith and kin in the coastal districts and the neighboring districts to immediately rush to the field to support the people and ease their suffering.

The food and shelter for the people are the most essential in the present situation. So, I kindly request all humanitarians and volunteers to arrange for the necessities immediately, and kith and kin from other districts to rush to the field and provide whatever help you could offer.

I request overseas relatives and friends to provide all possible financial assistance.
