Help Children Home get study desks!

The Bake Collective is raising funds to provide furniture for the library cum computer room in Jeevanrathni Foundation Children Home, Bangalore.

The Jeevarathni Foundation has 35 children in their care from different parts of Bangalore. Some of the children were found abandoned on the streets, some abused, some trafficked, and some have witnessed brutal horrors such as murder of their parents in front of them. Jeevarathni is,thus, a refuge for them to forget the dark past and begin a fresh life.  It's campus follows the SOS village model and is a home to these children - not an institution.

At the moment, Jeevarathni is building a library cum computer room of about 130 sq.m for the children to study, build computer proficiency as well as access knowledge and resources online. The money raised in this TBC campaign will furnish this room.

Bakers/Volunteers please fill the form:

Note: 10% of the funds will be deducted to run the campaign which include TBC costs and our online fundraising Partner Milaap’s fee and payment gateway expenses.

This time round TBC Bangalore will take goodies to the Children's Home. The Date is to be confirmed.

Dear Supporters,

Here is the update of the computer cum library room from Jeevarathni Foundation:
1. Materials for the Steel supports, trusses and various parts of the Steel shell, were sourced from Bangalore, in the first week of May 2017.
2. Work commenced at the site in the first week of May 2017.
3. Plinth level steel work completed by the 15th of May 2017.
4. All the steel sections and sub-assemblies are currently stored on the open terrace at Jeevarathni.
5.  Prior to assembly and erection of the Steel Shell, there was a setback in terms of the building showing visible cracks at one point, where it had to support our steel columns.
6. After consulting a Structural consultant,  additional Support Structure in concrete had been provided adjacent to the existing building. After two iterations, a design was evolved which would suit the purpose of supporting the Steel Shell, at the aforesaid weak point in the existing building.
7. Materials were sourced for this additional work- M-sand, cement, Reinforcement Steel and Blue metal over the course of the last week of May 2017 and delivered at site.

8.  Over the last twenty days, land excavation has taken place, the foundation is built, pedestals cast,  base mat cast, launched the columns and also cast the overhead beams.
9. In the next week, the cast structures will be cured with water to attain its maximum strength.
10.   Steel shell erection will commence in a week from now.
13. August 2017 is when work is scheduled to be completed.

Thank you for all the love and support.
