Additionally one in five girls drop out of school altogether when they reach puberty, and many other girls and women miss up to 50 days of school or work per year, falling behind in studies or not being able to earn for their families. SIgnificant number of women even in cities like Bangalore are faced with using alternatives such as rags, sawdust, ash, leaves, grass or newspapers which are incapacitating and uncomfortable as well as the cause of serious infections which can lead to reproductive disease.

About Sukhibhava: 

Sukhibhava is a social enterprise based in Bangalore educating urban poor women about menstrual hygiene and providing affordable menstrual hygiene products like sanitary pads, re-usable pads and menstrual cups. We have been operations for one year and have reache 4700+ urban poor women in south- east Bangalore alone. We aspire to reach one million women in next five years.

We reach out to the women in Bangalore urban through female micro-entrepreneurs, who come from the same communities we work with. We are currently working with nine female-micro-entrepreneurs and the raised through this campaign will be utilised to train 10 new femal-microentrepreneurs who will be reaching out to new regions in Bangalore while they improve the quality of lives of hundreds of urban poor women.

We at Sukhibhava believe the best place to make an impact on improving the lives of girls and women is sanitation and education. The time has come to promote loudly and unashamedly the role of good Menstrual Hygiene Management as a trigger for better, stronger development of women and girls. 

With that desire in our hearts, we preside over Sukhibhava. We’re all looking to make a difference in our world and we believe that by focusing on women, we’re going to make the most substantial impact. Almost half of the world is made up of women and if you empower them , they’ll pay huge dividends - in love, care, and a better world.
