Yogi Arwind is on a mission to plant Ten Million (One Crore) Trees. As a part of this mission Koti Vriksha Foundation is raising funds for Himalayan Tree Plantation.
The act of casually planting few trees in Kashmir and in Rajasthan in 2013, has turned into a well determined mission of planting one crore trees. Hence, recently Koti Vriksha Foundation was officially formed for the main purpose of tree plantation.
Until now Yogi Arwind individually or through the Koti Vriksha Foundation has planted above 12,000 trees.
These tree plantations have happened in Rajasthan, Kashmir, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttarakhand. Recent thrust is on the plantation in the Himalayas.
During his spiritual wandering across the length and breadth of India, Yogi Arwind went on planting trees wherever he got a chance. In ashrams, temples, schools, hospitals, farms. Wherever people provided land and other support.
Yogi Arwind also realised that the increasing popularity of Ayurveda has resulted in increased demand for Ayurvedic medicine. Hence more herbal plantation is necessary. Mostly the herbal plants / Ayurvedic species are planted through the plantation drives of Koti Vriksha Foundation.
Koti Vriksha Foundation does plantation of fruity trees for the purpose of monkeys, birds and other wild animals in outskirts of villages.
Important thing about the Koti Vriksha tree plantations is the care of plants after plantation for three years. This care includes watering them, protecting them and applying any herbal pesticides if needed.
Koti Vriksha Foundation organises get together if farmers and briefs them. Pledge is given to the villagers conveying that the trees are gods and shall be protected with the same level of commitment as we protect our children.
More important for us is the spiritual aspect of the tree plantation. Planting a tree, either sapling or a seed, witnessing it grow, protecting it, communicating with it etc all activities help one raise consciousness!
