Saraswathi just a few months back was a healthy mother of 3 young daughters looking towards putting them through their education. Carried dreams of seeing them live a better life than she could afford. Her husband Venkataramana and She had taken multiple jobs to make ends meet.
Full of compassion, and without ever any complains about what hand life had dealt them, the young couple had but one dream to see their daughters - Supriya 19, a 2nd PU graduate, Shashi 18, B Com 1st Year student and Aswini 16 Yrs, a 1st PU student get educated so they could take up some respectable jobs and work towards making their lives better than what they had been able to provide them.
The dreams took a beating when in the middle of 2017 Saraswathi started having recurring abdominal pains and had to give up her meagre yet essential family support income leaving her husband to soldier on alone. Doctors diagnosed her with some infections at first and advised medications, failing which and on further tests prescribed a surgical procedures to remove some part of intestine which developed infections. Saraswathi did get better, for a while and so the dreams did start to come back again. She was looking forward to join her family in their daily grind.
Unfortunately, life seldom goes to plan. She started experiencing other symptoms related to previous ailments as the infection that affected her had taken deeper roots than previously assessed. Coming back at her with a greater ferocity causing her to be re-admitted to hospital for further procedures.
Her medical procedures so far:
August 2017 - Complains of stomach pain and after a stay in MS Ramaiah hospital for nearly a month gets better, cost approx Rs 5,00,000
October 2017 - Similar complaint of pain, admitted in St Philomena hospital for a surgical procedure to remove some part of intestine due to infection, cost approx Rs 3,00,000
December 2017 - A third complaint and further investigations at St Philomena reveal infections in spleen requiring further surgery, cost approx Rs 5,00,000, discharged with colostomy bag attached
March 2018 - Procedure to reverse colostomy was scheduled but postponed as she was too weak and had to be given blood transfusions and was put on ventilator to stabilise, cost Rs 4,50,000
May 2018 - Current admission in hospital as further complications due to her not being able to afford proper care from previous surgeries has put her on the brink of giving up
All this while, the family, relatives and previous employers had tried to help her as much as they could - financially and emotionally. But they too were of limited means. With hospital bills accumulating, things have now become difficult.
Saraswathi now needs help, to survive, and to continue her treatment to get better so she could see her daughters fulfill her dreams.
I have employed Saraswathi and her husband for number of years in past and sincerely thank everyone for any help you could provide.
