Hi, I am Sourabh I’m trying to raise money to help my mother fight blood cancer with the help of genebandhu, a not for profit NGO which support patients with blood disorders by overcoming the challenge of finding a match for their stem cell transplantation. My mother Lata Agarwal, a loving wife and a devoted mother to three children have been struggling with B-Cell ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), a type of blood cancer for a year and a half.

I am an MBBS graduate. I graduated in 2018 and on February 22, 2018, I took the Hippocratic oath. Just four days later, on 26th February, my mother was diagnosed with blood cancer. My entire family was devastated. This is a point in our lives when all of us need her the most. My siblings and I are on the verge of building our careers, doing a thousand things at a time, preparing for exams and coaching, and amidst all this, we want her support, her love and her ever-lasting trust in us. But all we can do is sit beside her at the hospital and look at her being strong while numerous pipes go through her body. All of this makes working for a million things, including my coaching, building my career, etc tougher to make sense of day by day. She was admitted in Jaipur for 6 months where she underwent chemotherapy which cost us around 20 lakhs. This was followed by monthly follow-ups for 6 months. Things seemed to be changing for the better at this point but the happiness only lasted for a short while. After about a year of treatment, she suffered a relapse. She had to urgently go through Hyper-CVAD chemo treatment for a period of 2 months, at the same hospital in Jaipur. This again cost us 4 lakhs. Unfortunately, the Hyper-CVAD chemotherapy also failed and cancer returned. Now, she has been referred at the BLK Hospital in Delhi. She has started another Chemotherapy on 17th June 2019, at BLK Hospital which includes a 5-day treatment and a 25-day recovery period. This will again cost us 10 lakhs.

If this chemotherapy is successful, she will have to undergo Bone Marrow Transplant to finally get rid of cancer. If this chemotherapy fails too, then she has to undergo further treatment before she can get a BMT. This disease has taken a huge emotional and financial toll on our family. Our total medical expenditure for the treatment has already crossed 35 lakhs and continues to rise and we don't have any kind of health insurance. Our savings have been exhausted and we already have a loan of 10 lakhs from our relatives.
But, leukemia takes on such a course that it continues to exploit us, and we are faced with almost an insurmountable amount of medical fees for the treatment. Every rupee counts for us, and these donations will go a long way to help us.
