“When Zaryab was a couple of months old, he was suffering from jaundice. During his treatment we got to know about his heart’s condition." says his mother Sadiya.
Since then he has been suffering from fever regularly. Sadiya is living with her sister in Delhi. Her husband is no longer taking any care of them.
"My husband is a mechanic but he hasn't even offered once to help us out in this critical time. His children need him, so do I. But it looks like this is how it is going to be for my kids and me. My sister is trying her best but how much can she do also?" - Sadiya.
Zaryab(15 months) has a heart condition called PDA(Patent Ductus Arteriosus) because of which extra blood flows to the lungs. The blood vessels and lungs have to work much harder to handle the extra blood. If not treated in time, he could have long term lung damage.
“Staying in a warm space is not an option for him. His heart is always racing, at times his body gets so cold that I fear the worst for him. Some days he doesn’t eat at all, other days he’s given a banana with dalia(porridge) or milk.
The medication that he needs sometimes have side effects on him - he starts having loose motions.
While Sadiya is reciting ‘Machhli jal ki rani hai’(the queen of the water is fish) to her daughter(2.5yrs), Zaryab likes being the ‘machhli’ (fish) in the act. He picks up actions and characters instantly, mentions Sadiya looking at his curious face.
Zaryab needs your help to mend his heart. His mother has done everything possible to save him. She recently got separated from her husband and is now dependant on her sister's family. It's getting tough for her with every passing day, a generous contribution from your side can help them a lot.
