    This fundraiser will benefit

    Varun

    from New Delhi, Delhi

He used to be such a happy and active child. Always playing around, he loves cricket and even used to go to an academy before the pandemic. Since he couldn’t play outside since the last few months, he would play with his sister inside and teach her how to bowl. But now, he feels so tired that even walking up to the washroom leaves him out of breath.
Look at what this disease has done to my child!
- Rajini, mother

Cancer left him bedridden in just 15 days

13-year-old Varun was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a type of serious blood cancer that progresses rapidly. The parents brought the child to Delhi immediately as his condition got serious with each passing day. Varun is vulnerable to infections and suffers from excessive tiredness due to the deadly disease.

“It has just been 15 days since Varun has been diagnosed with the disease but it has left him bedridden already. We somehow managed to start his chemotherapy but we are struggling to continue the treatment.” - Rajini

He needs chemotherapy and a transplant to survive

Varun needs several rounds of chemotherapy to stop the cancer cells from growing followed by a bone marrow transplant to completely recover. The entire treatment will cost these parents in lakhs, which they can’t afford.

“My husband and I both work as teachers in a private school. Our combined income was enough to live comfortably, but the last few months have been very tough for us. With no proper salaries, we just struggled our way through the expenses. What will we do now? How will we afford Varun’s treatment? We have already sold our gold and borrowed money from everyone we could. My husband is trying his best to arrange more but we don't have enough time!" - Rajini

“Yesterday, he was sitting on the bed and talking to his sister over the phone when he suddenly fainted. I didn’t understand what happened. He wasn’t responding to me. I screamed for the doctor to come. Those 10 minutes were no less than a nightmare! For a moment I thought I lost him, I was so terrified. I can’t tell you how thankful I felt when he opened his eyes again. But is this how my child is going to be from now on? Fighting to survive every single day?” - Rajini, mother
