A week ago, Ashok and Seema would have never guessed that their 5-month-old daughter, Vanshika, would be fighting for her life in the ICU. The little one needs to be in the hospital for a longer period now, she is too weak to go out in the world but her poor parents can no longer afford her stay. They are scared that they will lose Vanshika without proper medical care. 

Her fever was not from the vaccination

Vanshika is the youngest of Ashok and Seema’s three daughters. And quite naturally, she is the apple of everyone’s eyes. Her sisters, Vandana and Kanishka love playing with her. Looking at their children happily playing away, the parents thought this was the best life they could have. This was until they had taken baby Vanshika for a vaccination.

“She had a slight fever after the vaccination, we thought it was normal. But when the fever didn’t go and she couldn’t even breathe properly, I knew this was different. We begged our sarpanch ji (village headman) to give us a lift to Jaipur - doctors in our village had given up on my daughter,” - Ashok, father.

An infection isn’t allowing this baby’s heart to function properly

Baby Vanshika has myocarditis - an inflammation of the middle layer of the heart wall. It is dangerous and if left untreated can even lead to death. The baby needs to be in the ICU for at least a week. But Ashok has nothing left with him so that he can afford his daughter’s treatment.
 

“I am a daily wager, I have no savings. I had two cows - I started Vanshika’s treatment by selling one of those. But even that is getting over now and I have no one else to ask for help. There must be some way, I can't lose my baby like this!"

How you can help

“As I look at my baby lying down in the ICU bed, I feel this is the worst punishment a mother can get. No parent should go through that in life. She is in so much but my hands are tied, I can do nothing,” - Seema, mother.

This 5-month-old baby girl needs to be in the ICU for a longer period without which she might not make it. The parents are desperate but helpless. They need 4 lakhs for the hospital stay. You can come forward and save this baby’s life.
