    Srinidhi

    from Bengaluru, Karnataka

“She was lying on the floor, she was having repeated seizures and then...she went completely blank, with her eyes wide open but not awake...she wasn’t responding at all. I ran straight to the hospital and she was admitted in the ICU. It was her first birthday that day and she was lying there - unconscious! They're saying it's cancer... and that only a bone marrow transplant can save her life!” - Raghunath, father.

Srinidhi was just 9 months old went symptoms of her illness started showing up. The baby wasn’t eating much and had frequent fever. Soon her entire body turned pale and everyone suspected it to be jaundice but after some blood tests, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, blood cancer.

“We didn’t even have time to understand what was happening, her chemotherapy started immediately. It’s been 4 months that my little child is suffering from cancer and… and I still can’t believe it.” - Sumathi, mother

She is nothing like the babies of her age

Chemotherapy has side effects and for a 1-year-old, it can be devastating. Little Srinidhi, unfortunately, started having infections right after her first chemo and watching her suffer, parents knew it is going to be a very hard journey.

“She recently completed her 3rd round of chemo but the side effects are the same. My poor baby has lost her appetite completely and even if she eats something, she vomits it. She has become so weak...she lost almost 1 kg in the past 2 months. It so hard to watch her suffer so much.” - Raghunath.

“I feel she has stopped growing. She is 1 year and 4 months now and she hasn’t said her first word yet. I just want to hear her calling me amma… She should be learning to walk by now and we try to make her walk also but her body is so weak that she can’t even sit for more than 5 minutes. I know the chemo is important but I just want it to stop.” - Sumathi.

Only a bone marrow transplant can save her now

Srinidhi needs just one more round of chemotherapy to stop cancer from spreading but that won’t be enough. She needs a bone marrow transplant right after it to survive this cancer.

“We have spent more than 25 lakhs now for her treatment and we are almost about to beat cancer but I can’t afford even the next chemotherapy cycle...how will I afford the transplant that would cost us around 45 lakhs??” - Raghunath

Raghunath works in the agriculture department. But since the diagnosis of his daughter's illness, he couldn't go back to work. He has used up all his savings and taken loans. He is also at the verge of losing his job. Only you can help him now to save his little angle- Srinidhi. Click here to contribute.
