    Sri Divnesh

    from Chennai, Tamil Nadu

April 15th, 7 pm -  Divya stands in a waiting room, rocking her 5-month-old son, Divnesh, in her arms. Her husband, Sakthi waits impatiently for his turn. The baby's eyes have turned yellow, they knew it can be jaundice but waited for the doctors to confirm and give him medicines.

10:15 pm - Baby Divnesh has slept by then. Sakthi and Divya come out of the doctor's room, almost numb, all they could hear was the doctor's words "your child has a fatal disease, his liver is damaged." They left the hospital with so many precautions and medications, and if they go wrong in any of these, they can lose him.

There is still hope left but it comes at a huge cost

April 16th -  They took Divnesh to one of the best hospitals in Chennai for liver disease and they confirmed the same but they had good news too, a transplant can save his life. Their eyes welled up with tears. Divya had a c section so she was not considered for donating the liver. Fortunately, Sakthi was found to be a matching donor but they were also told that the transplant costs 20 lakhs.

"One positive news gave us the hope but the next moment we were again thrown into darkness. I thought nothing worse could happen, but knowing that there is a solution and we can't afford it is more painful. The symptoms are beginning to get worse day by day, we are just watching him suffer helplessly with no one to help us," - Divya

What can the delay do to the baby?

Divnesh's stomach has already become so distended and he screams in pain all day. He vomits everything he eats, even water. He hardly sleeps but these signs are just the beginning of his liver disease. It can progress very quickly and lead to bleeding and even intense itching. As the toxins build up, it can damage the brain and nervous system and gradually all his organs will shut down.

" I do not sleep even a wink, I live in fear of losing him every moment. No medicines are helping him, his stomach is swelling abnormally. I feel extremely guilty, I don't know if I can save him before anything worse happens," - Divya.

Sakthi is a Software Engineer. He has exhausted all his savings, borrowed money heavily and has spent around 7 lakhs so far. He is neck deep in debts. He feels completely lost and is desperately waiting for your help.

The transplant is the last chance of survival for this 5- month-old baby, your contribution can save his life
