Susheel Martin Foundation has been supporting Nireekshana - A day school for special kids from lower income families. We currently have 35 children who attend school regularly, the children receive special education as per each one's abilities, they also receive various therapies, medical check up and more than anything else the love and care from our dedicated teachers and volunteers.

About our Project ‘NIREEKSHANA’ :

Nireekshana Center  was opened by MRS. DAYA MARTIN, a special educationist who served mentally challenged children for 23 years in Baldwin Opportunity School, Bangalore. She wanted every special child to be educated and self dependent , and thus she opened NIREEKSHANA center in 1989 with her provident fund. She was awarded the ‘Rotary Award’ in 1989 for her dedication towards the children.

She worked tirelessly for these children till November 2013, in December that year she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, She fought bravely till her end in May 25 2014. Her last wish was that “Nireekshana must go on touching many children’s lives” .

The Center, with the help of trained staff , offers individual  learning strategies designed to meet specific needs of children who are in need of special education. The objectives of the centre are to help the child:

  1. Develop self care skills in eating , writing ,cleanliness and personal hygiene.
  2. Achieve social adjustment through group experiences and activities.
  3. Improve communication skills.
  4. Develop motor coordination with the help of therapy.
  5. Evolve positive attitudes towards learning.
