Shiva Adiwashi is a 3 year old boy, living in District Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, about 180 km from Sawai Madhopur. Shiva’s parents, Vijay and Kuresh, are both labourers from a poor background.
In October, Shiva was diagnosed with a 15 mm Urinary Bladder Calculus (stone). However, due to lack of money, Shiva’s parents had to postpone the treatment.
In December, Shiva’s persistent crying and expressions of pain led his parents to get an ultrasound scan done. The scan revealed that the calculus had increased to a size of 21 mm. The situation had become worse and any further delay in surgery could result in permanent damage to Shiva’s kidney.
“He used to be a happy and lively child before the pains set in. He would often cry throughout the day and it was evident that he was in agony of some kind. Now that we know what the problem is, we want to treat him and get him healthy as soon as possible,” says mother Kuresh, amidst sobs.
But the treatment is a complicated one and requires a special urologist to be brought to the hospital from Kota to perform the cysto-litholapaxy (Endo-uro surgery) and the costs are beyond the capabilities of Shiva’s daily-wage earning parents. They are unable to even afford the next ultrasound scan (last one was in December ‘17) required to check the current size of the stone.
How You Can Help
Little Shiva can be cured in a matter of days if the surgery goes ahead successfully. However, he is still living in pain because Vijjay and Kuresh are unable to afford the treatment. They are desperately looking for any help they can get.
The total treatment requires a sum of Rs. 25,000 which includes the cost of surgery , medicines, investigation and stay at the hospital. Your contribution can transform Shiva from an ailing, crying and bed-ridden child to the fun-loving, energetic kid he once was.
