Sayar Das is a 34-year-old man, a student of 2005-07 MBA batch of BESU, Shibpur, who is full of life and enthusiasm and has a very positive and energetic approach towards life.

 He claimed himself to be one of the fortunate ones who had won the battle against cancer in the year 2015, when he was detected with Stage III pancreatic cancer and Doctors assured him that he had got rid of it by that year end after going through a very complicated Whipple’s Surgery on the 25th of February 2015, and thereafter completing a 6 month chemotherapy session till September 2015 at the Tata Medical center, Kolkata.

 After literally spending a cancer free life (as was claimed by the physicians) for a year, a sudden bout of fever gripped him in September 2016. A visit to the same hospital and after a series of tests it was confirmed that the dreaded disease have made a comeback to his life with vengeance and now it was in the most advanced stage, metastasized to the liver and subsequently to the lungs as per the latest reports. After consulting oncologists at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, a fresh dosage of the highly toxic drug-Folfirinox was suggested for the remaining lifespan. The oncologist was very blunt about the lifespan being not more than a year.

Now this life of energy and enthusiasm was in doubt with no more than a year left for it.  The family was devastated and suddenly in doldrums. He had his aged parents to look after, who are yet to come to terms with this sudden change of guard, after a year long struggle in 2016.

He has offered to treat him with the latest technology, which needs to be done at the earliest, within the first week of June 2017 to save this life, which is sinking every passing day.

 He has already lost 25 kilos of body weight in the past 6 months. Now with a weight of less than 47 kilos he is extremely fragile and frail, fighting for life every passing minute, with the disease almost crippling him. He is unable to walk properly, is faced with incessant diarrhea after every meal, breathlessness, excruciating back pain has been preventing him from lying down on bed. Almost no sleep nowadays for the last couple of months. This emphatic and energetic gentleman is losing faith and confidence on himself.

 

The advise of Dr. Aboti has been attached herewith, which may require a stay of almost 30 days in Guangzhou, China for the treatment, which in itself may cost around 50 lakhs in INR inclusive of incidental expenses.

 His wife and aged parents, are now fighting a lone battle to make him regain normalcy against all odds. All they want is to stand in front of him as before. Their financial condition is ordinary and the costs towards this treatment in China may grow to 60 lakhs depending upon the actual response and actual clinical conditions on presentation.
