I Am Hare Ram Pandey, A Proud Father to 35 Abandoned Daughters

Years ago, I found a newborn baby girl abandoned in a jungle, shivering in the cold and covered in ants. My heart broke as I brushed them off her fragile body, wrapped her in my scarf, and brought her home. She survived against all odds, and I raised her as my own. That moment inspired me to start Narayan Seva Ashram to rescue and nurture abandoned children.

Most of my daughters were discarded by families who saw them as burdens—left in jungles, bushes, train bathrooms, and even on railway tracks. Alone, these innocent children faced starvation or attacks by wild animals.

Today, I care for 35 daughters, providing them with love, education, and a chance at a brighter future. My wife Bhavani has been my greatest strength, nurturing each child like her own.

I feel like my wife is Maa Durga’s embodiment. No matter how many children I adopted,
she stayed up all night, caring for them with love.

Now, at 70, my body struggles to keep up with the demands of fatherhood. My hands tremble, I lose balance, and I have no savings or stable income. Whatever little I earn from farming goes toward feeding and educating my daughters, but it’s never enough. Two of my daughters dream of becoming doctors, and while I’ve promised to sell my farmland to support them, I fear it won’t suffice.

Beyond my daughters, I worry about the little girls in my village who spend their childhood herding goats instead of studying. Their parents, bound by poverty, cannot afford their education. If I had the means, I would take them under my care too.

I also want to help little girls of my village, whose entire childhood is being spent as goat herders.
But I am unable to educate, or feed them as well.
