    from Nagaland

“I can’t explain my fear when I look at my baby boy. He is completely yellow. The doctors have told us that only a liver transplant can save him. But with no money and no job, we won’t be able to afford it.This is nothing less than pushing my son towards death. I hate being this helpless, I wish I could do something, anything to save him,” - Imjabokla, mother of 3-month-old Mehaithong.

Happiness was short-lived for this young couple

Brian and Imjabokla were on cloud nine when their baby boy was born. Hailing from the quiet town of Kohima, Nagaland, the couple had small dreams. They wanted a family, they wanted to bring up their baby - give him the best.

“Who would have known that all of a sudden my baby would in the clutches of this dangerous disease? His liver is failing, rapidly. We don’t have much time.”

He has end-stage liver disease, but there is hope

The parents were hoping for Mehaithong’s jaundice to go away soon. But their worst fears came true when even the doctors in Guwahati told them that their baby is critical. They were advised to immediately go to Chennai.

“In Chennai we found some hope. The doctors told us that he has end stage liver disease but they added that an immediate liver transplant can save my baby boy. We were happy and sad at the same time. We are so close to saving him yet so far.”

I am a matched donor, I can save my son’s life but I have no money

Brian is a matched donor for his baby boy. But he has no job, he is struggling every day to afford Mehaithong’s daily medicine. His old father is working day and night but there is only so much he can do.

“I need 20 lakhs and there is no way I can arrange for that without help. My baby boy needs the transplant as soon as possible. I don’t have any more time to waste,” - Brian.
