But for a farmer like me, that kind of amount is impossible to get in this lifetime

Dipannita was just 5 years old when she was detected with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Blood cancer). Apart from loans and gold, Hemanta had sold his land too. Luckily, all of it was worth it because she was declared cancer-free in 2018. But just after 6 months, they got to know her cancer had relapsed. Now, they need 5 lakhs for her chemo urgently.

"When I first got to know she has cancer, I didn't know what it meant back then. The local doctor told us to take her to a city hospital with whatever we had and not to delay even for a minute. After getting to know how fatal cancer is, I was terrified of losing my daughter. I didn't know what to do so I sold my land. Now, when it is back again, we need 5 lakhs immediately for her treatment, but for a farmer like me that kind of amount is impossible to get in this lifetime."- Hemanta, father

The only source of income for this family has always been farming and their 2 cows.

Dipannita is just 8 years old but the way she handles her home in the absence of her parents is tremendous. Her father, Hemanta, works as a farmer and sometimes Payal also accompanies him to the fields. She is able to do that only because Dipannita takes care of her 4-year old sister, just like her mother. The only source of income for this family has always been farming and their 2 cows.

"This time I sold even the 2 cows we were left with because without treatment Dipannita was getting sicker day by day. But still, it is not enough. Every time she is down with a fever, she keeps shivering constantly and it is scary. She has to undergo oral chemo but her mouth has developed so many ulcers, they are waiting for her to recover from it."- Hemanta

"I have been married for 10 years now and I still get to hear taunts for giving birth to 2 daughters. But that never bothered either of us. We never went to school, but we wanted to send both our daughters to one. Now, when Dipa has cancer, nobody is willing to come forward to help her. Look at her.. she can't even open her mouth to cry."- Payal, mother

With no source of income now, Hemanta and Payal will not be able to continue Dipannita's treatment. They have no support from anyone in this big city, but they don't want to give up hope. Being with Dipannita in the hospital means, they are losing even their day's income. Her aged grandparents are sending money for her treatment by doing labour work. But even then, they can't afford 5 lakhs for her chemo.

Please help them save their 8-year old Dipannita.
