“Since her first battle against cancer, Dhwani had been actively hosting gatherings and events at the hospital, and dressing up in clown costumes to entertain other children who are grappling with unspeakably dangerous health conditions. She’s been motivating and encouraging them to keep fighting with all their might, using herself as an example that - if she can fight and beat it, then so can they. Who knew that misfortune would come upon us only days later, and we’d have to watch our daughter fighting for her life all over again?” - Harneet, mother

After 15 long months of treatment, she beat cancer, but it relapsed only days later

Dhwani’s life changed forever when in October 2020, she was diagnosed with two types of leukemia or blood cancer. Regarded as a high-risk patient, she braved a long battle against the deadly disease, with intensive and strong doses of chemotherapy, and was finally declared cancer-free in November 2021. Her parents thought all their worries and fears were finally behind them; that Dhwani will be able to go back to her life before cancer ransacked it. But, they were soon proven wrong in the most terrible way.

“Less than 15 days later after they told us our daughter had beaten cancer, it relapsed. This was so unexpected, and our fears only intensified when the doctor told us that such an early relapse is dangerous and extremely detrimental. Before we could even process the shocking information that we were given, we were rushing to make arrangements for her treatment - high doses of chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant.” - Pankaj.

Although she displays remarkable resilience, without timely treatment her chances of survival are slim

An exceptionally talented young girl, Dhwani, who recently turned 13, has always been an all-rounder in school, with admirable and notable student achievements. But, her keen interest lies in art and design, and she also teaches it for free. She aspires to become an interior designer and also dreams of pursuing her higher studies abroad. But after the turbulent two years, she has gone through, she doesn’t know what her future holds anymore.

She’s currently undergoing high dose chemotherapy, which is giving her severe side-effects. But unless the cancer is in remission, she can’t undergo a bone marrow transplant, which is what will help her recover. We are also looking for a 100% matched donor, so my daughter can finally live a pain-free life.” - Harneet, mother

They’ve run out of all means to fund their daughter’s treatment and are seeking help

Pankaj, who works at a travel agency, was struggling to make ends meet after his job took a hit in the aftermath of the pandemic. So, when Dhwani suddenly had a brain stroke and was shifted to the ICU, he sought help from kind strangers, who rendered their support, and Dhwani was able to undergo treatment successfully.

Now we are in a situation again, where we are absolutely helpless. We tried to sell our house but no one would buy it, so we had to mortgage it. My work is only just picking up again, and I’m also repaying the loan. We’ve run out of all options, and have no choice but to turn to you all for your help again. She is my only daughter - we are unable to have any more children. She’s so ambitious, and wants to do so many things in life. I want to make her dreams come true. Please help us, we can’t lose our daughter like this!” - Pankaj

Dhwani not only possesses an incredible fighting spirit, but also the strong will to live. Despite being extremely weak and sick, she hasn’t given up her education and continues to study diligently. She is aware of all that is happening and is adamant about making it out alive. But she cannot do it without your help. You can support her with your contributions
