    This fundraiser will benefit

    Dhanusha

    from Bengaluru, Karnataka

For 3 years, this father has done everything he could to stop his family from breaking apart. With no other choice in hand, Sunkanna had to sell the last piece of land he owned to save his daughters. Now one of them is sick again and he is left with nothing. He is forced to sell even the utensils in the house to save Dhanusha.

Dhanusha was diagnosed with blood cancer at the age of 2 when she had a fever, which refused to go down. Sunkanna sold his house and with that money he managed to treat Dhanusha. But this was just the beginning of their hardships.

Soon their elder daughter was diagnosed with cancer too

When the parents came back after finishing a year long treatment for Dhanusha, Geeta (their elder daughter) was diagnosed of a similar kind of blood cancer and it was fatal. This time, Sunkanna sold all the land he owned and started working as a daily wage labourer to run the house.

“They are so young to bear all of this. It’s like a cycle, one daughter gets better and the other gets sick. We were so happy when we came back home with Dhanusha but soon we noticed that there was a  lump in Geeta’s neck.  I was so scared that it would be cancer and my worst fears came true.”- Sunkanna
One would think that life couldn't be more unfair. But it was to this poor father. Dhanusha's cancer relapsed and now without a bone marrow transplant she will not be able to make it. The cost of the treatment will be 25 lakhs, which this farmer family cannot afford.

Dhanusha’s cancer is back and this time it will take her away if I cannot…

For three years I somehow managed to keep my daughters alive but now...I just don’t know anymore. I wish I was educated enough to get a job that could pay me more. I am ready to do anything, just...I just want them safe and healthy. Her cancer is back and this time it will take her away if I cannot…”- Sunkanna.
Away from her mother and sister, little Dhanush cries inconsolably. She wants to know when she will be cured of cancer, completely. She keeps begging her father to take her home. But Sunkanna doesn't know when that will be...
Geeta and Laxmi, the mother, are back at home waiting to hear good news and for Dhanusha to come back home. But it won’t be possible without your help. Your generous contribution can save the little girl’s life.
