    This fundraiser will benefit

    Debrup Mitra

    from Kolkata, West Bengal

15-year-old Debrup is a bookworm. That’s his hobby, that’s how he loves spending his time. These days, he also loves reading informative articles on the internet. That’s how he got to know that he is suffering from deadly cancer.

“I think he knows. But he doesn’t talk to me about it. He has always been the quiet kind. He doesn’t complain much but I know he is going through so much pain. I wish I could do something to take away his pain,” - Biplab, father.

His pain became so severe that he could hardly stand up

A little over a month ago, Debrup complained of a pain in his legs and waist. Biplab and his wife, Sampa, took him to an orthopedic - the medicines and injections gave him some relief.

“But it came back and this time he could hardly stand up. We got so scared - what was happening to my son. What was this disease that has almost paralysed my son? Finally, when we took him to NH, we got to know that there is a growing tumour in his hip bone. We were shocked!” - Biplab.

Three cycles of chemo is over but he needs continued treatment

Biplab works in a small computer shop in his hometown in West Bengal. His earning is just about enough to take care of his family - his one son and one daughter and his wife. But the news of Debrup’s cancer came as a bolt from the blue.

“I didn’t know what to do when I heard about Debrup’s cancer. Shampa and I couldn’t believe it at first. Debrup has always been very healthy and now...cancer! But I did everything I could and arranged for 2 lakhs to start his chemotherapy,” - Biplab.

But Debrup’s treatment is nowhere near over - he needs more rounds of chemo as well as radiotherapy. Biplab’s business has been really slow in the last few months and he has exhausted all his savings. There is no way he can arrange for the 8 lakhs needed for the treatment.

“Debrup is supposed to appear for his 10th board exams, he has so many plans. He keeps talking about those to us. But now each time he says anything, Shampa and I look at each other - not knowing what to say. We are afraid that he might not live that long if we can’t afford the treatment…,” - Biplab.

With your help, Biplab and Shampa can cure Debrup of this disease and take him back home. Click here to donate.
