    Child of Harvind Nayak

    from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh

"I have dedicated my life to worshipping Matarani as a temple priest, but today, my faith is being tested in the hardest way. After years of prayers, I was blessed with a baby boy. He grew up listening to bhajans that I sang, his tiny hands clapping to the rhythm of the aarti. Today, I’m fighting to save him from a deadly blood disorder."-Harvind Nayak, father of the child.

Harvind Nayak has spent his life in devotion, offering prayers at the temple every morning and evening, finding peace in service. For years, he and his wife Sunita longed for a son, praying with unwavering faith. When their son was born, they saw him as Matarani’s blessing, an answer to their prayers. But soon after his birth, joy turned into worry.

The baby was constantly ill – his platelets were dangerously low, and he suffered recurrent fever and infections. Doctors later diagnosed him with Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) Deficiency, a rare genetic disorder that severely weakens the immune system. Without a functioning immune system, even the mildest infections can become life-threatening. His only chance of survival is an urgent Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT).

"He cried more than other babies, his tiny body never seeming to gain strength. At first, we thought it was just a minor issue, something he would outgrow. But as months passed, I watched helplessly as his condition only worsened."- Harvind Nayak

Every day, I fear—what if I fail to save my son?

At just one year old, his childhood has been robbed by this disease. He should have been learning to take his first steps, playing in his mother’s arms, laughing at his sisters’ songs. Instead, he lies frail and restless, his body too weak, his weight too low, his cries filled with pain. His sisters adore him. Even at such a young age, his presence in their lives has been special. One of his sisters has stepped forward to donate her bone marrow, hoping to save him. The medical tests are still ongoing, but the family clings to the hope that she will be a match. However, finding a donor is only one part of the battle; the real challenge is affording the treatment.

"We had waited so long for him. When he came into our lives, we thought our prayers were finally answered. But now, I cannot bear to see him suffer like this. He doesn’t deserve this fate. Every time I look at him, I wonder – what if this is the last time?"- Harvind, tearfully

How will I save him with just 50 rupees as my daily income?

Harvind earns whatever people give him at the temple – sometimes as little as 20 to 50 rupees a day. It’s barely enough to keep the family going, let alone cover a treatment that costs lakhs of rupees. His wife, Sunita, is a housewife, fully dedicated to caring for their sick child. His three unmarried daughters help him with temple duties, but no matter how hard they try, their faith alone cannot pay for the transplant. Their family has always lived humbly, finding happiness in devotion. But now, they face a cruel reality – they are running out of time and resources to save their little boy.

"He urgently needs a Bone Marrow Transplant to survive, and my daughter has stepped forward as his donor. I need lakhs of rupees for my son’s treatment, far beyond what I can afford with my humble earnings. Every day, I fear – what if I fail to save my son? Please, help me save him before it’s too late!" -Harvind
