    This fundraiser will benefit

    Child of ashwini Mahato

    from Puruliya, West Bengal

Ashwini's daughter has always been a bundle of energy, never able to sit still for even a minute. Whether it was dancing around the house, sketching her latest creation, or cutting and crafting with paper, her hands were always busy. She was a bright, creative child, full of life and enthusiasm. But, Ashwini's world turned upside down when her daughter was diagnosed with Thalassemia Major, a severe blood disorder.  Multiple blood transfusions can cause iron overload and this accumulation can lead to liver cirrhosis, and even heart failure.

I want her to not be scared of dying every minute of her life

She needs a bone marrow transplant to survive.
The family’s first glimmer of hope arrived when they discovered that the father was a match to be her bone marrow donor. The transplant was a costly procedure, and as a farmer, it was nearly impossible to gather the needed funds. Desperate, they sold everything they owned, pawned jewelry, and borrowed from everyone they knew to make the transplant possible.

Her 1st transplant Failed, And Now We Have To Go Through It All Again

“I just wanted my daughter to be okay,” the father said, his voice breaking with emotion. “When they told me I was a match, I felt like it was a sign that things would finally be alright. I went through the procedure, hoping and praying that this would save her. But when the doctors told us it had failed, it felt like the ground had been ripped out from under us. I felt so helpless like I had let her down.”

She could not eat for 20 days straight. How will she live for the rest of his life?

Since then, the little girl has endured more than any child should. After her first transplant failed, she contracted an infection. She could not eat for 20 days straight, too weak to even get out of bed. The pain in her legs is a constant reminder of her battle, and she now needs blood transfusions every 15 days just to survive, but it is only a temporary solution.

Even In Pain Her She Dreams Of Teaching

Even as her health deteriorates, her dreams remain strong. She has always been passionate about art, and more than anything, she dreams of becoming a teacher.

“I remember how proud she was when she won first place in a school competition for her art,” her mother recalls. “She told me, ‘One day, I’m going to teach children how to draw and make beautiful things, just like I do.’ But as her illness worsens, I fear that this dream is slipping away from her.”

Her Mother Is Ready To Be A Donor But They Don't Have The Money.

Now, a second transplant is her only hope. The cost is an overwhelming ₹42 lakhs, a sum far beyond their means. Her mother is ready to be the donor, but the family has no way to pay for the procedure. They are now pleading for help, desperate to give their daughter the chance to live, to grow up, and to fulfill her dreams of teaching and inspiring other children.
