Vivekananda Public school was .started in the year 1982 by Late Shri M. N. Murthy in Punjagutta, Hyderabad. It strives to provide free education to the children who are less privileged.
The school does not get any aid from the government and depends on the generosity of its donors, individuals and corporate, to meet all its expenses. At present the school
operates from multiple rental premises which has its own challenges with landlords and logistics.
Currently there are about 370 students who are pursuing education in this school from kindergarten to 10th standard in English medium. The parents of these students are mostly daily wage workers, housemaids, roadside vendors and security guards. Some of them are also single parents or physically challenged.
Most of the students would have been illiterates but for the education provide"d by this school. The school provides free midday meals, uniforms, books and school supplies

The NGO is acquiring permanent premises for the school. The cost of the building is 2.8 crores (excluding registration). We have a ongoing drive to raise funds to acquire the building. You will be happy to know that we are half way to our goal. We have to raise the remaining funds by Dec 31st 2018 and are confident of meeting our deadline.
After we get posession of the residential building, we plan to make some modifications to the rooms so that they can be used as classrooms. We expect the renovation to cost us 10,00,000 INR (10 lakh rupees only). The funds raised by the Milaap campaign will be used to make the residential rooms into classrooms. We expect the civil works to start in February and take 45 days to complete. We intend to start the next academic year in the new premises.
