    Help Basana Fight Osteosarcoma

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

"Every time he gets injections, at least 5 or 6 of us hold him, he screams and tries to run away from the ward. He cries uncontrollably and looks at me helplessly. He begs me to take him home, but there is nothing that I could do. It is so painful to see him suffering so much but I don't have the heart to tell him that he'll lose his life if he does not get the injections and chemo," - Channabasappa , Father.

A regular day at school turned out to be tragic

It was the last day of school before the summer holidays. Basana was excited about the vacation. He played with his friends for a long time and came back home. He fell down when he played but did not care about it much. Only at night did he complain of pain in his arms. His parents thought it would get better, but the next day he got bruises all over his arms. They took him to a hospital and the scan reports revealed that he has bone cancer in his left arm and they were asked to take him to Bangalore for further treatment.

"He thought we are taking him for a trip, but we took him to the hospital and started with the chemo cycles. After every chemo, he begins to vomit frequently, the pain is unbearable for him. He is highly prone to infections, so we have to rent a separate room. He refuses to come to the hospital and throws tantrums, he is very scared.  He needs surgery too but I don't know how he is going to endure all this," -  Manjula, Mother.

With my salary, I can't even buy regular meals, how can I afford my son's treatment?

Channabasappa is a helper in a private company and he earns Rs 400 per day. For the past 2 months, he was not been regular at work. Yesterday, he left for his hometown fearing that he would lose his job. He has spent Rs 50,000 so far by borrowing from his friends. He needs 12 lakhs to continue the treatment. He fears he will lose his son to this deadly cancer without any help.

"All we can do is to skip meals but we know it is not enough. Bills are piling up but I'm struggling even to provide two square meals a day to my family. Basana is waiting to go to home, he hates the hospital, the injections, everything. Please help us save him," -  Channabasappa

With your help, this 8-year-old can live a healthy and happy life
