"Today, I cannot go to visit the hospital. It is over 10 kilometers away, and I do not have enough money to travel all that way by bus and come back. I do not get to see my baby boy. Do know how this feels?"

Rajesh was a happy man expecting his first born child. Things did not turn out quite as he expected when his wife went into labor. The baby had passed stool in the womb causing complications that necessitated intensive care and ventilator support.

"Doctor said they will give the baby best treatment in the other hospital and he will be fine in 2-3 days. I prayed for the best and was prepared to pay up to Rs. 1 lakh for that short period. Somehow in the two days, we sold jewels, pooled all savings, borrowed from people, and got together Rs. 75,000. I hoped my baby boy would come home soon enough. Since then, it has been hell for us."

"Every other day they say he can be discharged tomorrow, but then come back and say he needs oxygen and will be fine in two more days. Very soon, the bill came up to Rs. 4 Lakhs. Now the doctor says I can take him home, but I have no means to pay that bill."

Rajesh works as a driver in Jacobpura, making Rs. 8000 to support a family of 5 that includes his wife, two daughters, parents and a younger brother. His father is visually impaired and tries to contribute as well by working as a sweeper.

"Of my earnings, we hardly have anything left at the end of the month. My parents are unwell. I have to take care of them, buy medicines. My children go to school, and we have household expenses. When hospital asked me to produce a cheque, I wondered how a person like me will even have a cheque book or a bank account, when I do not even make enough or have enough at the end of every month."

Rajesh and his wife travel all the way to the hospital sometimes on cycle, sometimes by bus (when they can afford it) to see their child. Grief has taken over this family over the fact that they cannot bring their newborn son home even if he recovers unless they pay off the hospital bills.

The Hospital and its team of doctors have provided the best possible priority care for this baby. They have generously waived off as much as fee as possible and have applied for discounted service charges too. Please help the family cope with this difficult situation. "

Baby of Raj is currently recovering with oxygen support and needs your help to get healthy.

Your contribution would mean a lot to this family and help them take their newborn son home for the very first time.
