    This fundraiser will benefit

    child of Sachin Kirtikar

    from Nagpur, Maharashtra

“She was passing blood in her urine. We were horrified and thought she had cut herself or hurt herself badly. Little did we know that her liver was the root of all her problems.” - Sachin Kirtikar, father.

6-year-old Avani is going through what no child should have to go through in their lifetime. She is disfigured, as a result of itchy patches that have covered almost half of her face. She is also yellow all over due to jaundice. But worst of all, her tummy is bloated - making movement uncomfortable.

Avani suffers from Wilson’s disease, a rare disorder causing copper accumulation in the liver. As liver copper levels increase, it is released into the blood and deposited in other organs, particularly the brain and spinal cord. The copper deposits have the potential to cause tissue damage, tissue death, and scarring.

She is inching towards death, one painful day at a time

Avani faces the risk of multiple organ failure and eventual death, if she does not get a liver transplant urgently. It is the only cure for her rare condition that has rendered her completely weak and bedridden now. Avani, who studies in the 1st grade, and loved to draw and paint, is a poor shell of her former self now.

“She does not recognize herself, whenever she looks in the mirror. Neither do we. Medicines are keeping her alive for now. But it is just a temporary measure to prolong her life. If she does not undergo a liver transplant soon, we will lose her forever.” - Tarika Kirtikar, mother, tearfully.

On a teacher’s salary, this father cannot save his little girl

Sachin, Avani’s father, works as a schoolteacher. He earns INR 15,000 per month, which gets exhausted without savings in providing for his family. They live in a rented house too – which adds to expenses. Till now, Sachin had to spend around INR 7 lakhs on his daughter’s hospitalization and medicines – which was all borrowed money. He cannot afford her liver transplant in these circumstances.

“I regret not saving up enough, but I had no way to do that – it would mean sacrificing the needs of my family. I am in a terrible situation now – both mentally and financially. I am in desperate need of your help to save my child. She does not deserve this pain and suffering. Please help me.” - Sachin.

Avani can be saved if you help her undergo a liver transplant.
