Hi all!

Warm Greetings of the day!

I am Anurag Barde currently pursuing PGDM in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Bangalore.
I am extremely happy to inform you all that I have been selected for 'Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Innovation and entrepreneurship Boot camp' to be held at Rio De Janeiro, Brazil from July 28 - Aug 3, 2018, by qualifying rigorous rounds. However, for me to be able to attend this boot camp and live my dream, I will need all your help and heartfelt support. This is the 'Offer of Admission' from MIT.

As we know, MIT has maintained the quo of being the best university of the world since past 6 years.
MIT Bootcamps bring entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world to learn and practice into a same framework by the MIT faculty and MIT-trained mentors, using the rigorous and disciplined approach that speaks MIT.

Admission to the MIT Global Entrepreneurship Boot camp is by a highly selective process and is based on the following five criteria: rigor, initiative, contribution to community, team and cultural fit, and entrepreneurial potential. Only 70-80 candidates are selected from 35-40 countries per year.

MIT GEB Alumni have launched 100+ new ventures, raising over $50M in number of industries.

There are 381 alumni currently from 70+ countries.
Six Bootcampers were selected for Forbes 30 under 30:
  • Leonika Sari, Class 1 (Healthcare & Science),
  • David Anderton, Class 1 (Media),
  • Étienne Mérineau, Class 1 (Marketing)
  • Nasir Yammama (Class 2)
  • Karan Jerath, Class 4, (Energy)
  • Keiana Cavé, Class 4 (Energy)
Six Bootcampers have been admitted to MIT:
  • Jin Wu,
  • Nidhi Sharma (IDM)
  • Jakub Chudik (Undergrad),
  • Hiro Tien (Sloan)
  • David Anderton (Media Lab)
Currently I am looking for funding for my visit to this Bootcamp. Approximate cost for the trip is as follows,

Tuition fee to be paid to MIT - USD 6000
Flight tickets (Cheapest) - USD 2500
Accommodation in Brazil - USD 1500
Total = USD 10000 which comes to around 6.6 Lakhs INR.

I come from a middle class Indian family. My parents tried their best to raise me with best of the facilities available. They made sure I get happiness and comfort in whatever I chose to do.

We loaned a certain amount for our house in the past, and there's an education loan in the picture as well, which I recently took for my PGDM which sums up to a 7 digit amount.

When they got the news, at first, they did not know what MIT was or why the boot camp was such a big deal, but they were happy because they could see what the news meant to me.

They understood the magnitude of the opportunity when once I explained to them what the bootcamp was and why MIT is widely considered to be, the best university in the world.
I nervously told them the expenses for the same. At first they hesitated, but then seeing my dreams, they were ready to take another loan of 7 lakhs for me. That absolutely moved me.

I have seen my parents sacrifice their happiness for me without a second thought many times in my life. I could not bear to further my parents with financial difficulties and gently turned down their offer. I told them that it was my dream and I did not want my dream to be a financial nightmare for them.

At that moment, I decided to raise the necessary amount of funds on my own.
While it was easy to make tall claims about making it on my own, I did not have the faintest idea of how I was going to go about raising such a significant amount of money. I did a lot of research online, consulted mentors from MIT and then finally decided to go with the crowd funding option. MIT mentors told me how students in the past attended the Bootcamp with fundraising from their friends, family and community. And that's why I have initiated this Crowd funding campaign on Milaap.

The Times of India Covered my story of Crowd funding on 22nd May, 2018.

Funds raised through this platform will help me attend MIT Boot camp and will boost my career to a great extent by giving me adequate training, guidance, mentoring and networking to help solve grassroots social challenges in India through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Help me empower others and build India through Entrepreneurship and a chance to solve global challenges at MIT Bootcamp and replicate them in the form of Start-up in India.

I have always believed in the adage,'Dreams don't work until you do'
All I need is a Catalyst and that catalyst is the support from you all!

Please Support by sharing or contributing in the campaign!  :)
