“I’ll catch up with you, go ahead!”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I know you don’t want to be late. Go.”

Young Aadithya had stood there and watched, smiling, as her friend nodded and ran in the direction of their school. And as soon as she was out of sight, Aadithya had collapsed, breaking down and cryingRight there, in the middle of the road. She would not be able to catch up with her friend, because she could barely breathe, barely move. She could only lie there.

Her body had let her down once again.

15 year old Aadithya has CCHD – Complex Congenital Heart Disease, an unfortunate combination of various problems in her heart’s valves. The biggest effect this has had on her body is the disconnect between her heart and her lungs. Without any oxygen being absorbed into her body, she constantly loses her breath and gets extremely tired, even without any physical exertion. It can happen so quickly that whenever she goes out, she has to calculate beforehand which path would be quickest and least strenuous, even if she’s just visiting her next door neighbour.

This disease has already taken so much from her. It took away her chance to have the normal, happy, childhood she deserved. But very soon it may also take away her chance to grow into an adult.

A recent medical test has shown that Aadithya is finally old enough, that her heart is finally ready, to receive the surgery that will cure her. But it has also revealed that she only has approximately a month to do so. If she waits too long, or if she doesn’t get the surgery, her heart will no longer be able to sustain her body.

Her family is scared. They don't know what to do.

"I've not been able to sleep ever since the doctor gave me the news. My wife is braver than I am - she tells me everything will be okay, that we just need to have faith. But I just won't be able to rest until I know for sure my daughter is going to be okay" – Shaji, father

Shaji is a daily wager, and his wife a homemaker. They do not have the ability to afford the surgery Aadithya desperately needs.

But you can help, by donating whatever you can.
