Why am I fundraising?

Abhishek Dalvi is a fighter, with a huge heart. Having successfully fought off cancer as a teenager, his heart now needs a transplant.

****UPDATE - Dec 29, 2015*****

By the Grace of God and prayers that each one of you sent from your heart, Abhishek found a new heart yesterday! He was taken into surgery immediately. The operation was successful and Abhishek is now in recovery.

With this, the purpose of this fund-raise has been completed. And with gratitude, we are halting our efforts to raise more funds. We have enough for Abhishek. And hope that anyone coming to this link to contribute now will choose to favour another life in need.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us throughout the unfolding of this miracle. Your large-heartedness and unconditional love for Abhishek kept us going.

As it has helped bring healing in Abhishek's life, it has also made a huge difference in the way we, his friends, see life.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

****UPDATE - Dec 21, 2015****

Abhi has been airlifted to Fortis Chennai early this morning. It was a safe flight and e has been admitted in the ICU now. Chances of him finding a donor there are greater  in Chennai, and we are hoping he will get a heart donor in the next couple of days. We will keep you updated as his status changes.

This was only possible because of your help. We really appreciate it.

Following are some of the pictures from his airlift:

****UPDATE****
Doctors have now recommended to go for an artificial heart right away, to ensure the organs dont fail, before the matching donor heart arrives. We have increased the goal to Rs. 90L, which is the ask for the artificial heart. Attached is the doctor recommendation.

Dear Supporters,

We are happy to report that Abhishek is doing very well. Ten months after his surgery, he still regularly visits the hospital for check-ups.

While he is still on medication, he feels fit and has resumed his normal routine. He works as a  freelance web developer. Since he has been advised to avoid strain, he works from home. He has been trying alternative treatments like reiki along with yoga. He reports that these holistic treatments have helped him recover faster.

On a regular day, Abhishek likes watching movies and taking long walks in nearby parks. He is very happy to be able to go out again. He especially enjoys spending time in green spaces like parks and gardens.

Abhishek now and before surgery.

Doctors have advised him against any international travel, but he has been given a go-ahead for travelling and commuting in and around Navi Mumbai, where he lives.

Abhishek says, “I am very grateful for all the support I’ve received from contributors. This would not have been possible without your support. I am taking each day at a time and am doing my best to enjoy this second chance I’ve been given with my life.”

Thank you.

Hi All,

Here is an update on our champ. Abhishek is doing very well, one month after the surgery. He got discharged from the hospital a couple of days ago, and is now recuperating in an apartment close to the hospital. He has started walking and having food by himself. His second ECG reports show his heart is functioning well. In technical terms, his ejection fraction which was 5-10% is now 50-60%. Treatment for his lung infection is going on and latest x-ray reports show its is getting cured.

Our collective prayers are working, and its a miracle unfolding in front of our eyes. Please continue to pray for his speedy recovery.

Regards,

Akash
