SEPTEMBER is here!!!!And it happens to be my favourite month.
This is my birthday month and I also happen to share this joy with my father and sister in law.
But there is one more thing that most of you do not know. On 15th of this month in 2013, my life had changed forever. I was gifted with two felines who in turn in 2015 became proud parents to three beautiful souls coincidentally on the same date!!!! But fate had different plans, and I lost them to distemper (feline panleukopenia virus).In a desperate hope to give my cats a proper burial and do my last bit for them, I had travelled to Bakrahat to bury them at the cemetery maintained by Nikhil Banga Kalyan Samity. And started my journey with this Samity. I started visiting the sprawling 11-acre pet burial ground, Na-Manusher Swarga every month to spend some time there. The cemetery is dotted with rows of small tombs resembling “kennels“, most of which are built with white marbles, with a plaque bearing the pet's name and photo. In the process I got to know more about the Samity. Apart from the fact that it is the only burial ground for animals in Kolkata, the Samity runs a small orphanage which includes 18 boys. They also take care of 10 dogs who have been mostly abandoned by their inhuman beings.They are trying their level best to provide the orphans a basic lifestyle as well as provide the basic medical need to the sick animals.I have interacted with the vet there who wholeheartedly tries his best to help the injured animals.Hence whenever I make visits,I carry shirts for the boys and donate some money to the Samity in order to help them in a way that is possible for me.

Now the question is why this fundraiser campaign? I wanted to donate a good amount to the Samity to celebrate the birthday month of my feline kids . They would have been 4 this year had they been alive. After a word with Mrs.Basabi Chatterjee, who runs the Samity, it has been decided that once the amount is collected,it will be given to her to help her take care of the orphans and build some concrete pathways in the cemetery.
Hope all of you will resonate with my thoughts and emotions. I would be really happy if you all join me in raising the said amount of 50000 INR which will enable the Samity to provide for the needs of the boys and maintain the cemetery for all the angels.
