Pudukkottai district is one of the many districts in Tamil Nadu suffering from depleting water tables due to various reasons. The ones suffering because of this are marginal farmers and low income groups in village.
One of the main reason for depleting water table is less tree cover in the region. Its highly important to increase the tree cover of this region to improve water tables and micro climate. These will have long lasting positive effects on the livelihoods of the  low income groups by recharging of bore-wells naturally, that help them  in small scale vegetation.
Saplings will be planted with farmers and in schools campuses with school students. A mini forest  inside the school compound improves the behaviour of the school children by giving the children a greener environment that also has an impact on improved attendance and responsibility.

The proposal is to start plantation of 2500 saplings.  2000  saplings will be planted in Pudukkottai and 500 saplings will be planted in Sivakasi.
