Flash floods and landslides, triggered by torrential rains, continue to wreak havoc in Assam as five more died in the last 24 hours with more than 4.5 lakh people being affected as per the flood bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
With this the death toll has risen to 9.
Brahmaputra at Neamatighat (Jorhat), Dhansiri at Numaligarh (Golaghat), Jia Bharali at NT Rd Xing (Sonitpur), Kopili at Kampur (Nagaon). Barak at AP ghat (Cachar), Badapurghat (Karimganj), Katakhal at Matizuri (Hailakandi), Kushiayara at Karimganj are still flowing above danger level.

More than 6153 persons have been evacuated to safer places in the last 24 hours by the NDRF (National Disaster response Force) and the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force).
As per the flood bulletin, 235 rescue camps are operational in the flood-hit districts of the state.
Breaches of embankment have also been reported in six places in Hojai. In Karimganj natural embankment breach is reported at 3 points in Longai River.

Several trains in Lumding-Badarpur hill section has been suspended since Thursday by the Northeast frontier railway (NFR) due to landslides and tunnel washouts in five places following torrential rains in Assam.
