The Sai Sweekar Child Development Center located in Virar, is a special education organization for children with learning disabilities and special needs. Starting with 5 children in 2007, the center has worked with over 150 students over the past 10 years.

The center aims to provide tailored, innovative and holistic learning to young learners with special needs. The Center provides two programs: SAARTHI and PRAYAAS.

Saarthi is the program for little ones with learning disabilities while Prayaas is purposed to those with visual impairments, mental disabilities, Autistic disorders, ADHD and other special needs.

Both the programs involve screening and assessment to establish a diagnosis and design an action plan, early intervention, an Individual Education plan, community-based education, counseling, indoor and outdoor activities.

One of Sai Sweekar Child Development Center’s many successful students is Anirudh, who has been with the center for 8 years. He is an autistic child who was placed in a special school for mental retardation because his parents and teachers couldn’t understand what was wrong with him. Anirudh is now very calm. He started reading, writing and communicating. He is excelling at math and is growing to become a well-rounded individual.

Although it has been growing steadily and consistently the center needs your help! This year the Sai Sweekar Child Development Center aspires to cover the costs of educating 10 children with special needs for which it requires Rs.4,80,000 for equipment, materials, therapists and teachers. This amounts to just Rs.4000 per child per month. In a country, where 90% of children with disabilities don’t attend school, a tiny contribution on your part could enrich the life of very special child.
