"Theatre isn't here to provide answers, only possibilities."
I wouldn't disagree with Joe Mantello, as I highly believe that this astonishing spectacle brought to us by actors and their characters, brings to us potential for redemption. And what greater power do we have than children?
Here's Dramebaaz, for the third year in a row, to bring about a movement of social awareness to all those who hear. We bring to the children of Hyderabad, this fantastic opportunity to portray their stories and bring about a wave of change.
Dramebaaz is an initiative started by Soumya Kavi and Prasanth Nori, Teach for India fellows from Hyderabad. Currently operating in 5 cities, we teach and bring theatre alive for over 1100 children from low income communities and give them the space to depict their creativity, boost their confidence, build problem solving skills and self esteem, all in collaboration.
'Why theatre?', you may ask. Theatre instils a lot of values in kids such as teamwork, grit and confidence. Dramebaaz aims to provide our children with a platform to express themselves constructively and creatively.
We plan to track the growth of four key skills among the kids: problem solving, confidence, collaboration and self-esteem.
This year in Hyderabad, kids from over 20+ school have been practicing for over a month now to perform at the final showcase that will take place in December. We need your financial support and are hoping to raise 1,00,000 for the following:
You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram.
We’ve all had our chance to learn, get educated, speak up, and have a voice. Contribute and help us give this chance to those children who really need it. Please help out in any way you can. Spread the word! Spread the love! Thank you. :)
