"Naari"- A word that describes a Woman and this beautiful creator as well as nurturer remains overshadowed by the society and its norms. The idea was born in a comparatively remote village of Rajasthan where women are usually seen busy in household chores and their life is circled around their family.
After spending a month in this Village called "Dhigarla" I realized that how remarkably different and talented all the women are, despite of their conservative surroundings. I discussed about their talents of sewing, knitting, making mats, Paapad (a snack) and, a lot more and then I came up with this idea of making a team and working on creating products so that we can get market for their talents.
After conducting a meeting with around 32 women, 28 were enrolled to make a team and to establish a "Community Center" which can act as the hub for the overall development of the village. Women are not allowed to go out of their homes and take up a job, adding to that they already have many responsibilities which never allows them take any such step but being an independent girl I know the importance of empowering this amazing team. For me Project Naari is the first step towards helping them cross these boundaries and walking towards empowerment.
What do I plan to do with the funds?
The very first few basic things which I have jotted down while planning are:
* A community center needs basic stuff like; stationery, accounts to pay bills, basic work related material.
* We need funds to buy raw material for stitching, mats and making Paapads (The yum snack).
* Stitching is only possible if we have sewing machines so we need funds for that.
* For transporting the first lot i.e the samples (once they are made), we need funds to reach the audience.
All this and a lot more little details which are going to form this community center will require some good amount of time as well as funds.
FAQs
Why this project? - I am working on this project because I've lived with these people for like a month and I've explored every aspect of their lives. They have touched my life in a completely new way and I know that the only way to bring development in this village is by empowering the base on which the whole community stands, and that base is The Women.
Why should you invest? - If you are someone who believes that to bring development we have to work with the most crucial sector then this is something you can look forward to, for me these are not just few women, for me they are those strong poles of any society on which the overall development can stand and stay. If this cause is something that you can relate to, then you should come forward and help us in making it possible.
How can I see if my money is invested or not? - We can stay in touch via e-mails, phone calls, I will keep things updated and you can also come over to see the work and talk to those people who are directly touched by your good deeds :)
