Sachi Saheli is a pioneering organisation of self-motivated people comprising of doctors, teachers, journalists, students, and educationists who have taken up the challenge of eradicating stigmas surrounding menstruation and sexual abuse in order to make the society a better and a safer place for girls and women.
Sachhi Saheli has been able to educate over 25000 government school students on menstrual health and has also encouraged them to speak up against sexual abuse.
In the upcoming project in collaboration with the Education Department, Sachhi Saheli will engage with students of 50 government schools in New Delhi to educate them on the aforementioned topics. Additionally, the team will also distribute the menstrual awareness books called 'Mahawari ki Kahani Sachhi Saheli ki zubani' along with the '5p pouch'. The menstrual awareness book has been carefully conceptualised by a gynaecologist and illustrates effectively the right and essential knowledge about menstruation. It is the lack of this knowledge that renders a girl vulnerable to adopting regressive menstrual practices and the motive behind this book is to eradicate the stigma around menstruation while replacing it with appropriate knowledge.
The 5p pouch (that contains panty, pad, paper, polythene and paper soap) is an easy technique to maintain hygiene and to be always prepared for the period. We believe that every girl should have this pouch so that she never has to be scared for her period.
Therefore we appeal to you to help us in spreading these two essential resources amongst as many girls as possible so that they may never have to be ashamed of a process that is not only natural but also imperative for existence of mankind.
You may contribute for as many sets of pouches and books as you like.
Each set of the awareness book and a pouch costs 120INR ( Rs 60 for the book and Rs 60 for the pouch)
Our current target is to make these sets available to at least 10,000 students in the government schools of Delhi when we host sensitisation sessions for them.
We are confident that your contribution will help bring about positive change in the society.
