About Myself:
My name is Adil Ansari and I'm from Thane district, Maharashtra. On an unfortunate day I met with an accident which changed the whole course of my life. At that time I was studying in class 12.
I had gone trekking with my family and friends on 16th May 2002. We were enjoying and frolicking when I dived into the river and banged my head on a rock under water.
My back bone was fractured from c6-c7 level. This resulted in severe spinal cord injury. 90% of my body was paralyzed below my neck. I was immediately rushed to Harkishandas Hospital in Mumbai where I was operated but after three days my condition started deteriorating. I was put on a ventilator.
Doctors had started losing all hope and they said that I would not survive for more than 48 hours. But a miracle happened and I bounced back to life. Prayers of my friends and family had worked. I survived!!! Even the doctors were surprised. I remained on the ventilator for 28 days and spent 2 months in IMCU. But I was now a quadriplegic- paralyzed from the neck down for life.
Things were not easy for me as well as for my family. It was a huge shock!
It took more than 3 years to recover from bed sores and multiple infections. The procedure of rehabilitation was too tough to handle. It was hard to accept the reality. But when I started accepting my disability and a life of a wheelchair user, slowly things started getting better. I appeared for the class 12 exams with the help of writer. Everyone was surprised that I passed my 12th std even when I could not hold my pen. It boosted my confidence. I was ready to face any challenge!!.
Next I wanted to be financially independent. I got finance from my brother and started a dairy farm. I ran it successfully for 5 years. I now run a small medicine distributionbusiness.To gain further independence I decided to modify a Honda Activa (scooter) and also learnt to drive a car. And after a four year struggle I got my driving license.I may be one of a very few quadriplegics in India to get a driving license. Now I feel I am fully rehabilitated and independent.
I then turned my attention to Paralympic Sports
My New Dream:
I have now taken up Archery and won a gold medal in the First Senior Para Recurve, Compound & Indian Round National Archery Championship in Rohtak (Haryana) from May 12-15. 2016
I competed in the wheelchair 1 category and brought home a gold. In this category, athletes compete from a wheelchair and have "limited functions in lower and upper limbs, and usually trunk, like those with high-level spinal cord injuries, or high multiple limb amputations".
My new Dream is to participate in the Asian Para Archery Championships in Bangkok and thereafter hope to qualify for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
Unfortunately my equipment has become quite old and the state government doesn't fund athletes like us, who miss out on opportunities due to lack of modern equipment.
Hence I appeal to you for sponsorship to buy new Archery Equipment which costs around Rs.3 lakh. This is beyond my means and thus I need your help to realize my dream. Pls find the attached quotation which gives more details of the expenses.

Going for a 300 Km drive on a scooter !!!
I started my journey on 3rd DEC 2013 on WORLD DISABILITY DAY from my home town Bhiwandi at 3am in morning on my customized scooter with my friends who were escorting me in a car ...after a long ride I reached Nasik and after having breakfast I started my return journey again to Mumbai at Azad maidan. I reached at 6.30 pm.The distance is around more than 300 km almost 14 hrs of riding.This was a new record for an Indian quadriplegic and hence found a mention in the Limca Book of Records.
On 22nd December 2013 I participated in Para Badminton Tournament on national level and won a silver Medal in mens doubles for Maharashtra!!!
I am a member of Maharashtra State Paralympic Swimming Association, and have bagged two gold medals at the 14th National Paralympic Swimming Championship in the categories of 50-metre freestyle and backstroke men's national championship held in Indore in November 2014.
I also drove a modified car to all the four Indian Metros by myself in 7 days 12 hours 30 minutes and achieved a new Limca book of record in Jan-Feb 2015.I covered a distance of 6016 kms. Connecting Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. It registered in the 2016 edition of Limca Book of Records.
