I'm Laxmi Priya Soni, a 3rd Year Law Student from Gitam School of law Visakhapatnam, and an intern with Hamari Pahchan NGO. I strongly feel and agree that a woman's menstrual health is crucial to her well-being and also to the well-being of her family and community. Menstrual hygiene still continues to be amongst the most challenging development issues today for unprivileged women. Still the unprivileged women follow the old ways and they are not aware about the proper hygenic ways to deal with menstrual period . Menstruation is still considered a taboo in the Indian society. The main reasons for this taboo still being relevant in the Indian society due to illiteracy, poverty and lack of awareness about menstrual health and hygiene.

I've been working towards the cause of menstrual hygiene because I want the unprivileged women of society to have a proper menstrual hygiene. And to make them aware of good hygenic conditions. So that they should not face any kind of problems related to health in future.

Last but not the least contributing our best to help unprivileged women will bring surely bring good changes and results in our society.

On World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Hamari Pahchan NGO distributed Sanitary Kits and it came in limelight on Republic Bharat news channel:

After conducting a survey in the slums, it was discovered that there are women who are suffering from various problems due to non-maintenance of their menstrual health.

I'll be distributing Sanitary Kits to these underprivileged women so that they have the proper means and access to good hygiene.

Hamari Pahchan NGO has distributed more than 30,000 Sukhad Kits in 2021 and their aim is to distribute at least 50,000 Sukhad Kits to women. These kits would include 24 packets of Sanitary Pads 6 packets of Soap and disposable paper envelopes.

Sukhad Kit for 1 woman = Rs.1400/-
Sukhad Kt for 5 women = Rs.7,000/-
