In August this year, in a remote village in the state of Chattisgarh, Nankuram Sahu did something every one of us does every day; he made a phone call. But this was a call that has changed life for close to 800 people in his village.

The only source of drinking water a pond in Machandur village at Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh was filled with filth. Women in the village often traveled as far as 6 kms to get water for basic use. Despite repeated requests to clean the pond, nothing ever happened.

It was then Nankuram a citizen journalist for a voice-based, rural community news portal CGNet Swara, reported the incidence on the portal. Soon after Nankuram recorded his report with concerned official's number on the site, not only did the officer start receiving calls, but a team soon visited the site to start cleaning the pond.

Many others like Nankuram Sahu need your help to make their voices heard and bargain a life free of misery.

http://cgnetswara.org/, a mobile phone-based news and current affairs network started by a former BBC Journalist and Knights Fellow Shubhranshu Choudhary, helps tribal and ordinary people to report and record stories of injustice, corruption and change.

After five years of reporting more than 4700 stories and close to 300 cases of impact in last two years, CGNet needs your help to continue driving change to the Maoist violence affected areas of India.

Through seminars, plays, musicals and street theatre CGNet now wants to reach out to the urban population and motivate them to make that one call that can create a difference.

The Urban Outreach Programme is about the team of tribals and ground reporters reaching out to oeople in cities and letting them know that thousands of people in the remote areas can get their dues if city dwellers step ahead to make enquiry calls to concerned officials and bureaucrats.

The teams of CGNet reporters, volunteers, theatre artists need money to travel, stay, sustain and make phone calls to reach out to people during the Urban Outreach Programme.

To expand continue with their Urban Outreach programme CGNet Swara, needs close to three lakh rupees for next six months.

Help CGNet Swara to provide a platform to the unheard voices of India, so that these voices can bargain a better life for themselves.
