Aanya Chatterjee, my daughter, was diagnosed with profound hearing loss on both ears on her first birthday (1.5 years). Being absolutely unprepared for such a surprising turn of events in life we eventually looked up to our family. We were able to gift her the joy of hearing for her left ear. Honored by the deft hands of Dr. Shalabh Sharma, Aanya got operated at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and recovered soon. The device (CP802) happens to be the basic cochlear implant device we could afford(inr 5.8lac) owing to the advanced devices being beyond our reach. She is currently undergoing Speech therapy at Asha Speech and Hearing Clinic(registered with Cochlear Australia).

Would like to mention at this point that Aanya happens to be a Mondini Child. For those who would have read or are aware about this syndrome , should know that it takes more time for such children to showcase results (related to speech development) . This brings us to a decision. A decision to look forward to another surgery . This time ,to have her right ear operated to restore a normal two way hearing.Between me and my wife , needless to say we have exhausted our financial resources in the last surgery conducted in April 2016. We are still in the process of collecting as much as we can , along with a strong support from my place of work (A must mention of them as their support made the first surgery possible).I would request your generosity to help me out in this situation as its been a yearning for both me and wife to hear the first words from our daughter. This unfortunately continues to be a distant dream for now.
I would request you to please let me know if you have any questions.
