About Chanura
Chanura Microfin Manipur (CMM) came into existence in April 2007 with a clear motto “Better economy for a better nation”. The organisation has been working relentlessly to reduce poverty and introducing positive changes in the lives of the poor since its inception in 2007. The philosophy of Chanura is to create a just society where people of all tiers would get opportunity to translate their potentials for acquiring wealth and amenities for better living. Chanura believes that all people have the right to live a standard life where all fundamental needs can be met, where the poor and the underprivileged would not be abandoned and neglected. They would enjoy the facilities and affiliations offered by the state and the society. Poor would not feel isolated or segregated from the advanced and privileged segment of the society. Keeping the vision in mind, Chanura has been making relentless efforts to tear the bond of poverty that has shattered thousands of lives in this region. Since inception in 2007, Chanura has been offering various services including microfinance, various solar energy product, Biomass Smokeless Cleaner Cookstove, Financial Literary Program, Natural calamities aids and education support for the betterment of the mass people. At present, the organization is rendering comprehensive services to more than 500 villages, rural and urban areas of Manipur. The organization has created job opportunity for forty eight educated unemployed youth through its versatile activities and programs. Chanura always cherishes a generous and forward looking outlook to adopt new strategies in its programs and activities since its inception. As an example of the honouring the ethics and regulatory compliance became the first MFI in the North East India who have conducted the Code of Conduct Assessment, COCA in 2012. And Chanura is a member of Sa-dhan and North East Microfinance Forum.
