Some of you have reached out asking for clarification on Deductions and Discounts

Deductions refers to the 3 main components.

1. Milaap's platform fees (usually 5% of the funds raised), 
2. Payment Gateway charges - these are charges by banks and credit card companies to process the donations received (usually between 2 - 3% of the amount) and
3. Service tax  (GST) - charged on the Milaap's 5% fees earned from donations made from Indian donors.

Given the

• unique nature of the campaign (a memorial fundraiser and unfortunate circumstances that led to it),
• overwhelming public request to increase the goal amount beyond it's initial target of Rs 10 Lakhs and
• subsequent support  from donors across the world in a very short span of time (~3-4 days)

Milaap unilaterally decided to waive off Rs 1.75L out of Rs 2.19L, charging only ~ Rs 44K INR or 1% of the amount raised as the platform fees. This was transferred to the family. Below is the breakup of deductions and discounts highlighted.

Dear Supporters,
We are disbursing the remaining amount in the campaign to Sri Ramalingam ji's mother. This amount is approximately INR 10 lakh. A fixed deposit will be created for her financial support and welfare.

The previous disbursals were made to Ramalingam ji's wife's account. The status of the campaign dashboard is attached for transparency. We are thankful to all who supported this campaign and request you to pray for Sri Ramalingam ji's family's safety.

Dear Supporters,

Thanks to all our donors for their patience with the disbursement for this campaign. We had been in long deliberations with a reputed fund house and legal consultants to create a mutual fund based Trust for the Ramlingam family.

However, the family has informed us that they would prefer to keep the funds in the form of fixed deposit with their bank. We respect the family’s decision and are disbursing USD funds raised to Sri Ramlingam’s wife, Mrs. Chitra Ramlingam’s bank account.

This is our 2nd disbursal after the INR which was disbursed on 12th February 2019. The remaining amount in the Milaap campaign account will be disbursed to the bank account of Ramlingam ji’s mother in a few days.
