Hello everyone,

It has been a long time over two months since my last update. Since then the disease has progressed on two other lines of chemotherapy which has been a gut wrenching ordeal for me.

My mother's chest lesion is huge now and is starting to physically manifest in various troubling ways. She was having trouble swallowing for a few days, the swallowed pills, food. Or sometimes even water would regurgitated immediately and then she would cough for over twenty thirty minutes before she was able to relax. Having been through this fight for  such a long time, I feared the worst and it proved so.

A Laryngoscopy revealed that her right vocal cord is paralysed due to the pressure her chest lesion puts on the vagus nerve which controls almost all of the neck region openings for the wind pipe food pipe etc. Although the doctor said that she should be fine swallowing food and liquids for now provided she do so carefully. Imagine having to be careful even while drinking water.

We have exhausted all lines of therapy the only credible treatment left is through the drug called T-DM1 or Kadcyla which is prohibitively costly and beyond my means at 3-4L per cycle.
My mother is still able to walk and talk and perform all daily functions by herself.
Her best chance at fighting the disease is now with the drug Kadcyla. The company that produces Kadcyla has a scheme where after six cycles the drug is free for life long as the patient needs it. Six cycle of that drug will cost upwards of twenty lakhs. I have no way to arrange that sort of money.

I also don't want my mother to not get her best chance at fighting this dreaded disease as her son didn't have enough money.
Please 🙏 help me raise this amount if you can, all the funds raised in the campaign have been put to use for her treatment already.
To all the people who read this, I thank you for your help and ask you to once again share the campaign with all your personal and professional contacts for giving my mom the best chance in the fight against her disease.

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted an update. It's because the infection which I had shared information about in my last update proved very persistent and tough to get rid of. Despite over two weeks of multiple IV antibiotics, the blood tests showed my mother still had the bacteria in her blood which had caused the infection. As long as she had the infection in her system, the doctor could not administer chemo, so as a circumvention or middle path the oncologist put her just on targeted therapy without the chemo till the infection  cleared. The port which was inserted in her chest two years ago to aid chemotherapy turned out to be infected and had to be removed. She has in the meantime removed two cycles of the targeted therapy in this time while battling the infection. She had grown  very weak with fevers and very low appetite. Thankfully now her condition is on the up and infection seems to have cleared, we will have to get a blood test soon to confirm. The next cycle at which doctor aims to restart the chemo will happen at the end of December, till then she gets to recover and recuperate.

This entire period has been extremely stressful and draining in every way mentally, physically emotionally and financially. The medicines and the targeted therapy are all prohibitively expensive which cost around 70000 per cycle. This has all been positive through the help and support of all the donors and people who have shared and spread the campaign. There is still a long way to go in the fight and the target is still a long way from being fulfilled.
I request each and everyone reading this update to please share the campaign in all your circles personal and professional and please donate if you can. Thank you all and a happy new year.

Hello everyone,

The doctor has started us on a new line chemotherapy to fight the disease (One chemo+two targeted therapy drugs) which is given every 21 days. The first dose was administered on the 7th of October.
But as luck would have it, 4 days later my mother already weak from the disease and the chemo started having terrible loose motions which did not stop for two days and rendered her completely restricted to the bed and needing physical assistance for any and all daily tasks.
She was admitted in emergency basis at a private hospital near my place which would admit patients without a negative covid report. She was kept in tbe isolation chamber (30000 a night) until her covid report came the next day which was negative.

The other reports were not good as her infection markers were off the charts and her BP was dropping. She was going into septic shock which can be fatal. She was shifted to the ICU where she was put on a heavy regimen of powerful antibiotics and antifungal medication. Thankfully in about 5 days there was improvement and she was shifted to a normal ward as her infection markers we're down and she was lucid and able to eat again.

She was discharged 2 days later but still had to receive antibiotic infusions at home for 5 more days. As she can't get these through her arm due to her breast surgeries, she had to have a central venous line put in which remained in situ even at home until the infusions continued.
The infection nearly had it's say but we were lucky that mom was able to fight through that despite being on chemo.

This hospital excursion (8 day stay) has really put us really back in the financial department. The entire cost of this was nearly 3Lakh. 3 lakhs which were supposed to be spent on her cancer medications.

I am at a loss of words for strangers' and friend's kindness on milaap.
I would request you all to kindly contribute if you can and share the campaign with your contacts and on social media, so that we can meet our target and have a fighting chance.

I am deeply indebted to everyone of you.
