Fundraise for a Cause with Milaap : the Best Crowdfunding | Milaap
20th October 2016
Dear Supporters,
It's with a heavy heart that I'm typing these words. I know it's been awhile since we've updated you on the progress of this fundraising campaign, but I do wish with all my heart that this update were a good one.

Sadly, Aravindan passed away this morning. It appears to be a cardiac event, but we are still awaiting formal details from the hospital.

Fate has played such a cruel joke on him that it makes me angry. It makes me angry that a man like him was made to endure more than a decade of torture and just when things were moving forward and hope was around the corner, he was snatched away from us all.

It makes me a little less hopeful about the things we believe in. I started writing this update to you this afternoon, and frankly, I didn't know what to say.

Mr. Sajeevan, who's been with Aravindan all these years as his only friend and caretaker - more than a friend, a brother - is beside himself with grief. He just lost his reason to exist.

I want to personally thank you for contributing to this cause, and even though we had 11 days to go to hit our goal, I want to think that Aravindan was happy with the effort.

I want to think that he was hopeful in his last hours, and I want to think that he passed away while dreaming a happy dream about a tomorrow in which he could stand up and walk with his head held high.

I want to think that he's in a much better place now, where he's doing just that, far away from the cruelty he suffered in this one.

The funds were yet to be utilized. After speaking to the Milaap team, here’s how we can proceed with the funds raised so far.
  1. You can request for a refund by replying to this email within 7 days. Milaap team will initiate the same. Also, just a heads up, it usually takes 9-10 days for the funds to reflect in your bank account.
  2. We can create a welfare fund in the memory of Aravindan which can help a person in urgent need. We will keep you posted about the beneficiary case and Milaap will regularly update about their progress. Here's a campaign where surplus funds were used to support another child in need. (Refer to the update posted on 28th September 2016
The choice is yours. I request you to please let us know by replying to this email, and marking a copy to hello@thebravenewworld.com

Thank you.

Good morning!
We've been quiet for a few days now, trying to sort things out on-ground with the hospitals and figuring out how to move Aravindan.
Things are moving and we are confident that this surgery will get him on his feet! We want to thank you for contributing to this campaign. You are awesome! :)
We have one very important update for you - we have a Milaap Impact Partner for this campaign, and for the next 4 days, this anonymous hero has agreed to donate 50% of every penny raised. This is a HUGE deal for us and will give us the much-needed impetus to take us over the finishing line.
We have 31 days left in which we need to raise a little over 8 lacs. Please share this message with everyone and urge people to contribute. In case you want to donate again, please go ahead. Every donation will have 1.5x impact for Aravindan.
Share this message, get people to donate and let's #StandUpForAravindan!

In case anyone wants to visit Aravindan and give him a few words of support and hope, you can do so:
