Dear Supporters

Yuktha is now healthy and back to normal life. She joined class 8 fifteen days back. She is now on maintenance chemotherapy and  has to be hospitalized for a day once a month for the same.

She is very happy and active these days. She has been advised to keep away from dusty areas that give her an allergy. She has also been advised not to attend school if her classmates have any kind of infection. Yuktha has to avoid oily foods and doctors have  recommended that she only eat homemade food.

Dear Supporters,

I am Sudhakar, a Milaap Open fellow in Bengaluru. I spoke with Chandra Kumar, Yuktha’s father on 13th September.

The 4th phase of chemotherapy session got over on 23rd Aug. The 4 phases of chemotherapy sessions should have gotten over in the month of June according to the original schedule. But, a infection in the urinary tract delayed the procedure by almost 2 months.

Yuktha is currently on antibiotics and oral chemo medicines. The blood platelets count is yet to reach the desired level for the maintenance phase to start. She undergoes a blood test every 3 days. Doctors expect that the maintenance phase will start in a month’s time from now. The maintenance phase will include daily medication and monthly chemotherapy injections. It will last for 2 years and will get over in September 2018.

Yuktha will resume school once the maintenance phase starts. She is eager to join her school back. She got special permission from the school to take 7th standard exams in the last academic session. She will join the 8th standard whenever the doctor advises.

Chandra Kumar says, “Milaap’s funds along with my savings ensured that my daughter gets the best treatment. Thanks to all the contributors for supporting my daughter and me in this time of need.” Let’s continue to pray for her so that she gets back to her school days as soon as possible.
