Signal School 4 year Report
Aadhar cards of children
Signal School has made aadhar cards (Unique Identity Citizenship Number) of all children. This card gives them legal identity.
Library - Reading corner
On 3rd march 2017, reading corner has been started intentionally. This ‘reading corner’ will boost the interest of extra reading and knowledge of language among children. After 4pm, at least half an hour books is kept for ‘reading corner’.
Evaluation test of children
Kinjal Chandra, pehalpediatric therapy centre & her team did the quality evaluation test of children. This helps to understand the scientific reasons behind problems that are there in the view of study. As a result, this helps to bring necessary changes in the teaching methods.
Night Shelter at school
The street life made them mandatory to sleep on footpath only. Children couldn’t able to sleep early with enough time. Thus, signal shala has provided facility to let boys to sleep safely & we also take care of girls that they will sleep with their parents only.
Joyful education with the children of Lodha World School
Erlier day of signal shala On every Saturday, children of signal shala visit the lodha world school to get familiar & aware of outside world, the ambience, other children, bigger classes, other teachers etc. They experienced different world through interesting talks, discussion, and learning, playing & eating together. As a result, we observed confidence among children. Along with outdoor games, children also enjoyed sessions on health and communication skills. principle of lodha world school helped in many ways to see such positive result.
Slow learner to normal
In signal shala, there is lot of emphasis not only on education but also on holistic development of an individual. While teaching, babadi, a nine year old boy found distinct with the signs of slow learner. He needed special therapy. From January, 2017, special therapy was given with the help of Era Gurukul School for a year. After successful speech therapy & learning process development, now competent babadi have become one of those normal students of signal shala.
Summer vacation activities
When all other schools have summer vacation, signal shala get engaged into preparation of summer programmes.Instead of giving holidays, we work proactively on educational quality and skill of children. The vital intention behind this is to develop helping nature, leadership qualities & awareness of personal & surrounding cleanliness through different activities like group activities, garden work etc. As a result, they are able to first listen and then follow the order of team leader in a cooperative manner which helps to shape their leadership qualities and team building skills effectively.
Parents meeting
Monthly parents meeting is there to discuss about hygiene issues, discipline, care of school stuffs & responsibilities of parents.
Neki ka Pitara
Kusharu pocha from Nagpur has brought this unique concept. What’s this concept about? In this unique initiative, anyone can add nutritious food into the fridge i.e. ‘nekikapitara’ for malnutricious people. There is a whatsapp group to make an idea more feasible. This nutritious food includes fruits, vegetables, staple food, milk etc. ‘neki ka pitara’ has come in signal shala & provided good nutritious food to the children.
Visit at Neharu planetarium
On 18th July, 2017, the volunteers of Dan & Bradstreet company arranged ‘educational visit’ at Nehru planetarium. This golden opportunity triggers the curiosity of children to know about universe and earth we live upon.
First sports fest
In 2017, first sport fest of signal shala held from 17th to 19th December. At this fest, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho along with exciting individual games like running, three legs race & spoon & marble were there. All children enjoyed lot with sportsman spirit.
Sport fest
In 2019, second sport fest held from 9th to 10th January among three groups of student. The competition was among primary, secondary & pre-primary group. For pre- primary division, games like frog jumps, three legs race, and running were there. For secondary division, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi & individual games like long jumps & running were there. Such sports festival helps children at both mental & physical level enrichment.
Painting of under bridge places
Rotary club of thane garden city & Nerolak Company come forward to decorate the signal school by doing beautiful paintings at under bridge places. This painting and colouring make the world of children of signal shala so beautiful & colourful.
Saving account of students
Signal shala opened saving bank account of 35 students in Apana Bank & Central Bank of India. The government has started DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme for students of municipal schools. Under this scheme, money gets saved into their bank account. On the basis of that money, they received school stuffs.
Rehabilitation of families
Samarth Bharat Vyaspith initiates the rehabilitation of families of students who were living in unhygienic conditions on streets. Now, they have been provided with good, hygienic safe shelter. Viju Mane, a well-wisher of signal shala & citizens of thane gave big financial support for this positive step.
Science exhibition
Every year, signal shala participates in science exhibition at school level held by Thane Municipal Corporation to present the models on the basis of science concepts. Inter school science exhibition held from 8th to 10th December, 2017. Children of singal shala came forward with innovative concept called as ‘smart signal.’ Generally, we see how carelessness and negligence of traffic and signal rules brings chaos and accidents on road. Surprisingly, these children living on streets came forward with practical solutions. ‘Raddi Paper Scrub’&Purushottam Pachpande, Robotics Lab Team helped children to present the ‘smart signal project’.
Akshaypatra
Thane municipal Corporation along with Iskon, a private social organisation planned ‘akshaypatra’, an initiative to provide nutritious lunch for underprivileged sections of society. Now, this scheme is also started in ‘signal shala’.
Self-reliant Shankar
On 25th January, 2017, unfortunately, Shankar Balu Pawar had major damage to his right leg in accident while crossing the road. Under guidance of Dr. Medha bhave & Dr.Subodh Mehta, a major surgery & treatment successfully done in both Param Hospital & Hospital Subodh Mehta. After recovery period of nine months, Shankar is able to walk independently.
Letter of Rahul Gandhi
We received a letter from Congress President Rahul Gandhi thane branch of congress party on 9th August, 2018. He conveyed his message & praised about efforts of signal shala taking for educational rights of underprivileged children.
Unique Diwali festival at Singal School
On 3rd November, 2017, Signal Shala celebrated Diwali fest. The main attraction of this Diwali fest is inauguration of modern science lab, new classes & signal shala banks Counter . This Diwali become more delicious with the feast of melody music, worship of Saraswati goddess etc. This was next successful step of signal shala after writing and reading level success stories.
Diwali Festival
On 26th October, 2019, like every year, Diwali festival celebrated to light up the dark world of underprivileged children. What was the special this time? The students of Signal Shala, presented their ideas & full-fledged capacity through the concept ‘collage of future’. There was exhibition planned and held by students. An interesting activity of puzzle solving was there for all audience to make the programme more interesting. In exhibition, some projects also there on topics like ‘Best from waste’, ‘great bath Facility in harappan culture’ , ‘uses of clay material etc. Another attraction of Diwali festival was visit of eminent personalities like Bhau Kadam, Kushal badrike, Atul todankar, Viju mane and Abhijit Panse. This opportunity brought open talks with artist Bhau Kadam, Kushal Badrike & Atul todankar.
Bus service
families Rehab to Rental Home from teen hat Naka Bridge to Kalwa Area. Due to the rehab , it was bit difficult for students to come in school in time. Around 18-20 students were coming from Kalwa. Firstly, their parents hesitated to send their children due to long distance. Thus immediately, on 26th November, 2018, signal shala started bus services to save their time. This facility also benefited to increase the number of regular coming students.
Redcliff CBSE School, marathon
On 2nd December 2017, Redcliff CBSE School organised cyclothon & skating under marathon. On this occasion, the fund gathered for marathon was given to the signal shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspith. This time, Lalita Babar, an Indian runner was present to motivate the participants.
‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book publication ceremony
The amazing journey from begging to learning, under bridge ‘ghosts’ to robotics,container class to modern school is shown through this ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book on 23rd December, 2018. This contains nearby twenty articles on different projects and educational experiments held in signal school along with essays, poems & drawings of students. Well known eminent personalities like Abhijit Panse, Ankush Chaudhari, Ajit Parab, Atul Parchure, Viju Mane, Shirish latkar& Jayant Pawar were present at publication ceremony. Abhijit Panse is honorary editor and Viju Mane, Shirish latkar, Jayant Pawar, Dr.Vijaya Wad, Kaushal Inamdar &Kushal badrike are guest editor of ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’.
Science Exhibition, Dombivali
Students of Signal shala took participation in science exhibition organised by General Education Institute Dadar, Marathi Vidnyan Parishad, Thane Division & Kalyan- Dombivali Municipal Corporation. This exhibition organised from 5th to 6th January, 2019 at S. V. Vidyasankul, Dombivali. Under the guidance of prof. Balasaheb Khollam, student presented the experiment of conversion of sea water into the fresh drinkable water with the help of solar energy. This project received 7th rank at state level competition.
Ground Making
Playground is an indivisible part of School life. In the first week of January, playground was ready for games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi etc.
Project of Agriculture
On 9th February, 2019, agriculture project started to give basic education of agriculture which plays major role in Indian Economy and Diet. Every Saturday, volunteers of Cognizant Company come in Signal shala to teach lessons of agriculture to students.
Raigad trip
In the third academic year of signal shala, Raigad trip was memorable event in the timeline of signal shala. The happiness & curiosity was doubled since preparation for the trip. On 16th February, 2019, all students & teachers enjoyed trip with great enthusiasm.
Counselling of mother parent
Why we need counselling of mother parent? In the underprivileged sections of society, lack of literacy, poverty, female foeticide, more hands to run family lead to lack of family planning. In poverty, due to major misconceptions & superstitions, they don’t have proper family planning which spread more poverty again. To stop this vicious cycle, we focus on basic important step i.e. counselling of mother parent. Accordingly, operation of mothers took place after having child in March, 2019. Time to time, we also organised necessary sessions on healthy lifestyle, hygiene & menstruation cycle. Now, Mrs Supriya Karnik has come forward to lead this initiative and counsel the mother parents.
Annual Exam
The result of academic year 2018-19 was declared on 2nd may, 2019 at school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation. The very positive outcome is all students passed the exam successfully.
Internship of Mohan
10th passed student of Signal shala, Mohan Prabhu Kale is now completing his further education in diploma in engineering at Rustamji Academy for Global Careers. The next part of this success story is, he completed his two month internship at Tech Mahindra company in Pune which was started from 3rd May, 2019.
Atul Pawar, Photography training
The Photo Circle Society organised photography workshop from 11th may to 12th may for 6 hours on both days i.e. from 10am to 4pm at Thane kalabhavan, kapurwadi. They taught about handling of camera and detail information. Our 9thstd Student, Atul Jalandar Pawar took participation in this workshop and also successfully completed further training of photography.
Bhel making activity
On 24thMarch, 2019 & 11th May, 2019, Bhel making activity was arranged under the concept of ‘value of cooperation & togetherness’. In this activity, all students made bhel with maintaining the quality and quantity from self-cleanliness to the cleanliness of place. On this occasion, award ceremony also organised to award the best performers of the year. Everyone enjoyed the ceremony while taking the taste of both bhel & award.'
Unique Gopalkala for strong bond making
Every year, on the occasion of Gopalkala, there is ‘PustakHandi’ programme. Every year we maintain quality & uniqueness of programme. In this activity, students enjoy the extra book reading. We are in mainstream of education that credit goes to the society who shows the path of equality & unity. On this occasion, we expressed gratitude for the supporting society. On 1st September, 2018, student along with teachers visited local police station and other local administrative officers.
Material resources at signal school
On 9th June 2019, there was an inauguration of material facilities at school. On this occasion, Bari Rasin, Dr.Ashesh Ganguli, Nilesh Puranik, Govind Khetan of Rotari Club of Thane Hills were present. This helped to make school facilitated by necessary material resources to assist progress.
Admission of Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale
On 17th June 2019, 6thstd students of signal shala, Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale got admission in Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To make children capable & bring them in the mainstream of education is the main aim of our Signal Shala. To achieve this target we took next step to do admission of both students in Sarswati Vidya Mandir School so that their confidence of learning at any school will increase. Both students passed the entrance exam of Sarswati Vidya Mandir. They got more than 50% in exam. From the academic year 2018-19, they continued their educational education in new school i.e. Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To see this success, we got help of Shree. Suresh Dighe, a trusty of school.
Robotics Science
Purushottam Pachpande, Founder of robotics Lab, took session of robotics science at Signal Shala. Firstly we arranged these sessions for secondary division on every Friday. All students enjoyed the session as this type of session found very interesting to them. We have started this session at school to make children familiar & knowledgeable about running technology in this era.
Group discussion
Group discussion is one of study technique which helps to understand the subject in every aspect. By understanding its importance, we made groups of students to have group discussion on different study subjects E.g. While studying Geography, students asked queries about planetary system, & universe, colours of planets, human species etc further, they asked about rocket technology. It is explicit that no doubt all children have the curiosity and enthusiasm to know more and more about subjects. Group discussion helps to nurture the qualities of listening & courage to ask question. Therefore, we have initiated this activity at signal shala.
The result of academic year 2018-19
The annual result declared on 28th April 2018. All students passed the exam successfully. Mohan Kale &Dasharath Pawar, passed the 10th std Exam. Mohan & Dasharath passed the exam with 76% & 65% respectively. Now, Mohan is taking diploma degree in engineering whereas Dasharath is taking his further education in art stream. Dasharath’s dream is to become a police officer so simultaneously he is taking police training along with study of BA.

Independence Day & Republic Day
15th August 2016 marked as a day of educational revolution & true freedom of children of Signal School. The children who are selling paper made Indian flags on road are now able to hold their own educational flag for their bright future to prepare themselves for the country. Children worshiped the image of flag. This is how, every time, we celebrate Independence Day & Republic Day at Signal Shala.
Inauguration of Signal Shala
On 19th August 2016, there was an inauguration of signal shala run by Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth. Inauguration of signal shala was done successfully in the presence of mayor Sanjay More, vice mayor Rajendra Sapte, commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, senior corporator Milind Patankar, Vikas Repale, Namrata Bhosale & Signal Shala family.
Varsha Marathon, thane
On Sunday, 28th August 2016, varsha marathon was organised at 7am in front of TMC building. Students of signal shala participated in varsha marathon of thane. This was the first ever experience of students to participate in this marathon. Viju mane &SantoshJuvekar also participated in marathon to encourage the students.
Cleanliness Campaign – Human chain
On 23 October 2016, students of signal shala participated in ‘My Thane, Beautiful Thane’ organised by PM Clean India Campaign. Being a part of campaign, students were also delivering the message of cleanliness to others.
Meet with respected BabasahebPurandare
On 27th December 2016, a speech of BabasahebPurandare was organised by Ashwamedh Pratisthan of Mayuresh Joshi in Thane. Students of signal shala participated in this programme. They got a golden opportunity to do shivaarati & also received blessings of eminent personality BabasahebPurandare.
Inauguration Nursery
After the eight to nine Month experience, we realised the necessity of Balwadi at Signal Shala to stop habit of parents to send their younger children on roads for begging. On the holy occasion of Gudipadwa (28th March 2017), Inauguration of balwadi was successfully done in the presence of commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, mayor Minakshi Shinde, corporator Naresh Mhaske, education officer Urmila Paradhe, Kiran shelar, an editor of Mumbai Tarun Bharat newspaper & members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth & signal shala team.
The first ever platform for students
On the background of children’s day, students of signal shala gave performances at acharya Atre katta. This programme was organised on 16th November 2018 by ‘Acharya atre sanskrutik mandal’ for children’s day special.
Women’s day special
On 8th March 2017, we showed the short film on the life & work of MalalaYusufzai. We also gave the introduction of MalalaYusufzai to the students & their mothers. We also provided the session on awareness regarding menstrual cycle to mothers. This is how in innovative way we successfully celebrated the women’s day.
VirJijamataUdyan visits
On 6th June 2017, with the help of Abhijit Chavan, educational visit was arranged for children at Vir Jijamata Udyan & Siddhivinayak temple. They got an opportunity to see wild animals at rani bag, bhaiklhala. Interestingly, they were so happy to see humbolt penguin bird.
Yoga day
Every year we celebrated Yoga day at signal school on International Yoga Day i.e. 21st June. Swati Mudumvar, a yoga teacher, mallakhamb teacher & other sports teacher gave guidance to children about yoga & exercises. On that day, children were learning about how yoga, mediation & exercises help to maintain good physical & mental health. The programme ended with Suryanamaskar. Also, all members of Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth& signal shala team took active participation.
Gurupornimautsav
On the occasion of Gurupornima, we celebrated completion of academic year of signal shala & Gurupornima. On this day, we felicitated the 10th passed children of members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. Students of TMC ( Mumbra) performed the miming show on the topics military & major problems of India.
Rainy trip – visit to FulpakharuUdyan
On 20th August 2017, with the help of DhanashreeNandgavkar, first rainy trip was planned at fulpakharuudyan in Ovalekarwadi. All students enjoyed the watching butterflies and greenery in rainy season.
Cultural programmes
Every year, Education division of TMC organised cultural programmes at school level. This time programme held at TMC Dagadi School, charai. Our students of signal shala also took participation in this cultural programme. The students were doing dance practice on folk song ‘vitthalvitthal’ for continuous 15 days rigorously under the guidance of Sadhana Tai.
Bhondala
Every year, bhondla&rasagarba are celebrated on the occasion of Navaratra. Students stood around bhodhla elephant in the ring form and walk in circle by chanting ‘ eklimboojhelubai, don limboojhelu. The bhondla programme started by worship of sarswati image on slate. All students enjoyed the rasagraba, bhondla & khirapat, a feast of the day. Their happy & smiley faces were saying how much they enjoyed this cultural programme.
Govar-Rubella vaccination
After polio free India, government put next target of govar-rubella free India. Thus, on 1st December 2018, we took our students of signal shala in,school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation for the vaccination. Total 38 children were vaccinated there.
Swami Vivekananda daud
Every year we celebrate 12th January, a birthdate of Sami Vivekananda as a national youth day. ‘Vivekananda daud jagar yuvashakticha – sanman strishakticha’ was organised with the help of Bhagini Nivedita Utkarsha Mndal. The students of signal shala also participated in this daud (running race).
Science Day
On 28th February 2019, students of signal shala celebrated science day with an enthusiasm. Some of the students gave presentation on scientific concepts &science experiments in front of other remaining students. Suman Shevale gave guidance throughout the process. Rangapanchami & workshop on natural colour
First, student received the training of natural colour making under the guidance of Ulhas Karle. They learned from the demonstration how to make colours like red, yellow, saffron, white, blue, purple by adding liquid colours into the organic powder. On Wednesday, 20th March 2019, all students enjoyed environment friendly rangapanchami by using handmade colours. This was a unique celebration.
Roti day
What’s this concept about? With a social awareness, there is a food donation programme for needy people of the society. On 1st March, Roti day was celebrated with the help of Viju Mane.
Signal school ‘SangeetRajani’
Amitraje and Pancham group held a programme ‘Aatirahengibahare’ which includes some old & new hindi marathi songs at placeGadakarirangayatan, thane on 17th June 2019.This programme was organised in the viewpoint of fund collection for signal shala& get together of well-wishers of signal shala. Supriyakarnik of school had taken the whole responsibility on their shoulder. The programme was successful with the support of Janatasahakari bank ltd.
Health check-up day
We observed that while teaching some student’s hands most of the times go towards back & legs. Why were they so irritated? The simple answer is living on streets in totally unhygienic conditions made them unhealthier. Most of the students were facing itching, skin allergy & random fever. On the serious note, Signal shala decided to conduct health check-ups at least once in two months. The first health check-up conducted under guidance of Dr. Medha Bhave & Dr.Parul on 21st June 2016. Accordingly, in four years, we conducted 7 primary health check-ups, 3 dental check-ups, 1 eye check-up & 2 vaccinations as per need.The necessary tablets & medicines also provided time to time.
Visit to KidZania
On 11th July, 2019, along with students of Balsnehalaya, our students of signal shala visited KidZania at R City mall in Ghakopar. They enjoyed the real experience of different fields like police, fire brigade centre, doctor, dabbevala, trekking and beautician. They liked thisactivity based education. This day was one of the memorable days in their life.
Ashadhi Ekadashi
Every year, students of signal shala pray to the god vitthal. In first year, students did ‘Aksharwari’ & in next year, students celebrated ‘vrukshadindi’ & ‘pustakdindi’. Through ‘vrukshadindi, they gave message of tree planting to save the environment. They also gifted tulasi plant to the people. This initiative received a very positive response.
Signal Shala Marathon
On 21st July 2019, ‘Road Runners’ organisation held a marathon for financial support to the signal shala. It was planned at VasantVihar club house, Thane. So many citizens of thane participated in the marathon. All students & teachers of signal shala were present at this place.
Bird’s journey
On 22nd August 2019, Green Works Trust & Ses foundation organised a programme on bird’s journey under the title ‘stories of bird’. Prof Balasaheb Khollam did all the planning of the programme. Krupa Patil & their team delivered a session on birds in a very easy & creative way to the children. They gifted 50 copies of book ‘Birds of Maharashtra’ to our signal shala.
Awareness about ‘menstrual cycle’
Signal shala started campaign for females to know about importance of care taken in days of periods. In the lead of Amruta Mishra (supporter at signal shala), we conducted the programme on 28th August 2019. Dr. ShobhanaNayar&Amruta Mishra gave guidanceto both daughters & their mother through audio-visual medium.
Visit of education minister
On 12th January 2017, honorary education minister of state, VinodTawade visited our signal shala. He had conversation with students of signal shala. He expressed his belief & said, “Do hard work for bright future, work with energy, government is with you.”
Visit of wrestler Sangram Singh
On 8th August 2017, Sangram Singh, a wrestler visited to signal shala. Students come to know the Indian wrestler who represents our India at international level.
Visit of Pravin Ghuge, head of child right commission
On 19th July 2018, PravinGhuge, head of child right commission gave visit to Signal shala. He talked with students, parents & teacher to know the problems. On this day, deputy commissioner of TMC Manish Joshi, education minister UrmilaPardhe& founder of ‘Samatol’ foundation Vijay Jadhav, AaratiNemane&other activists were also present.
Human Resource Development Mantralay, Delhi
On 16th October 2018, volunteers of social organisation adjacent with Human Resource Development Mantralay, Delhi visited to signal shala.
Visit to Burns & Macdonald Company
On 11th January 2019, Students of signal shala got golden opportunity to visit the Burns & Macdonald Company. Students enjoyed the games & educational documentary film. On 9th January 2019, the foreign volunteers gave visit to the Burns & Macdonald Company. At that time, sport fest was going on in Signal shala. Thus, volunteers were happy to see performance of students in the field of sports & they gave their best wishes to the bright future of the children.
Visit of Bharat Watvani, a Raman Magsaysay awardee
A Raman Magsaysay awardee & senior social worker Dr. Bharat Watvani gave visit to the signal Shala. He expressed his expectation & belief to make this project & educational experiment as an ideal model of education by the government.

On 3rd April 2019, Dr. Salimbeharni (Canada) & Dr. mari along with activist of signal shala Susmita Sonavane & Nilesh Sonavane gave visit to the signal Shala.
Visit of the students of Saint Thomas School, Kerala
On 22nd May 2019, five students & two teachers from Kerala ( A state with a 100% literacy rate) visited to know more about Signal shala. To study the different educational experiments carried out outside of Kerala is the main motive of their visit.

The first annual exam of students
The first annual exam on the bases of school syllabus was dated from 5th April to 14th April in 2017. This was the first time in their life, students of signal shala were giving annual exam & they were able solve it. On 29th April 2019, signal shala scored 99% result in annual exam. Total 18 students sat for exam. 17 students passed the annual exam conducted by education department of TMC. One student couldn’t able to pass the exam due to some certain reason.

In winter session of assembly, the CM declared an assurance of study of ‘Signal Shala’ educational pattern on state level. Further he also showed trust on the effectiveness of educational model of ‘signal shala’ on different issues to be solved like decreasing enrolment number, educational problems of migrated people, children outside of school etc.

On 12th November 2017, Mrs. ShraddhaDandavate, a teacher at signal shala received ‘Super Mumbaikar Award’ declared by 91.9 radio FM channel. SumanShevale, a teacher at signal shala was also present there.

Every year ‘the institute of leadership & governance’, Maharaja Sayajirao University announces an honorary award ‘YugantarPuraskar’. In 2019, this year, Signal Shala is awarded by ‘YugantarPuraskar’ &BhatuSawant CEO of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth received a ‘Youth Hero’ award. PM NarendraModi has given their best wishes & appreciation to the work of Signal Shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. In front of youth, signal shala is one of the ideal innovative educational models.
Selection in Antodyay Scheme
On 23rd July 2019, Signal Shala, an educational model is selected as DindayalUpadhyayAntodyay best practice by cultural department of central government. Our project is selected in 200 selected projects out of 1000 projects from 35 states.
Aadhar cards of children
Signal School has made aadhar cards (Unique Identity Citizenship Number) of all children. This card gives them legal identity.
Library - Reading corner
On 3rd march 2017, reading corner has been started intentionally. This ‘reading corner’ will boost the interest of extra reading and knowledge of language among children. After 4pm, at least half an hour books is kept for ‘reading corner’.
Evaluation test of children
Kinjal Chandra, pehalpediatric therapy centre & her team did the quality evaluation test of children. This helps to understand the scientific reasons behind problems that are there in the view of study. As a result, this helps to bring necessary changes in the teaching methods.
Night Shelter at school
The street life made them mandatory to sleep on footpath only. Children couldn’t able to sleep early with enough time. Thus, signal shala has provided facility to let boys to sleep safely & we also take care of girls that they will sleep with their parents only.
Joyful education with the children of Lodha World School
Erlier day of signal shala On every Saturday, children of signal shala visit the lodha world school to get familiar & aware of outside world, the ambience, other children, bigger classes, other teachers etc. They experienced different world through interesting talks, discussion, and learning, playing & eating together. As a result, we observed confidence among children. Along with outdoor games, children also enjoyed sessions on health and communication skills. principle of lodha world school helped in many ways to see such positive result.
Slow learner to normal
In signal shala, there is lot of emphasis not only on education but also on holistic development of an individual. While teaching, babadi, a nine year old boy found distinct with the signs of slow learner. He needed special therapy. From January, 2017, special therapy was given with the help of Era Gurukul School for a year. After successful speech therapy & learning process development, now competent babadi have become one of those normal students of signal shala.
Summer vacation activities
When all other schools have summer vacation, signal shala get engaged into preparation of summer programmes.Instead of giving holidays, we work proactively on educational quality and skill of children. The vital intention behind this is to develop helping nature, leadership qualities & awareness of personal & surrounding cleanliness through different activities like group activities, garden work etc. As a result, they are able to first listen and then follow the order of team leader in a cooperative manner which helps to shape their leadership qualities and team building skills effectively.

Monthly parents meeting is there to discuss about hygiene issues, discipline, care of school stuffs & responsibilities of parents.
Neki ka Pitara
Kusharu pocha from Nagpur has brought this unique concept. What’s this concept about? In this unique initiative, anyone can add nutritious food into the fridge i.e. ‘nekikapitara’ for malnutricious people. There is a whatsapp group to make an idea more feasible. This nutritious food includes fruits, vegetables, staple food, milk etc. ‘neki ka pitara’ has come in signal shala & provided good nutritious food to the children.
Visit at Neharu planetarium
On 18th July, 2017, the volunteers of Dan & Bradstreet company arranged ‘educational visit’ at Nehru planetarium. This golden opportunity triggers the curiosity of children to know about universe and earth we live upon.
First sports fest
In 2017, first sport fest of signal shala held from 17th to 19th December. At this fest, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho along with exciting individual games like running, three legs race & spoon & marble were there. All children enjoyed lot with sportsman spirit.
Sport fest
In 2019, second sport fest held from 9th to 10th January among three groups of student. The competition was among primary, secondary & pre-primary group. For pre- primary division, games like frog jumps, three legs race, and running were there. For secondary division, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi & individual games like long jumps & running were there. Such sports festival helps children at both mental & physical level enrichment.
Painting of under bridge places
Rotary club of thane garden city & Nerolak Company come forward to decorate the signal school by doing beautiful paintings at under bridge places. This painting and colouring make the world of children of signal shala so beautiful & colourful.
Saving account of students
Signal shala opened saving bank account of 35 students in Apana Bank & Central Bank of India. The government has started DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme for students of municipal schools. Under this scheme, money gets saved into their bank account. On the basis of that money, they received school stuffs.
Rehabilitation of families
Samarth Bharat Vyaspith initiates the rehabilitation of families of students who were living in unhygienic conditions on streets. Now, they have been provided with good, hygienic safe shelter. Viju Mane, a well-wisher of signal shala & citizens of thane gave big financial support for this positive step.
Science exhibition
Every year, signal shala participates in science exhibition at school level held by Thane Municipal Corporation to present the models on the basis of science concepts. Inter school science exhibition held from 8th to 10th December, 2017. Children of singal shala came forward with innovative concept called as ‘smart signal.’ Generally, we see how carelessness and negligence of traffic and signal rules brings chaos and accidents on road. Surprisingly, these children living on streets came forward with practical solutions. ‘Raddi Paper Scrub’&Purushottam Pachpande, Robotics Lab Team helped children to present the ‘smart signal project’.
Akshaypatra
Thane municipal Corporation along with Iskon, a private social organisation planned ‘akshaypatra’, an initiative to provide nutritious lunch for underprivileged sections of society. Now, this scheme is also started in ‘signal shala’.
Self-reliant Shankar
On 25th January, 2017, unfortunately, Shankar Balu Pawar had major damage to his right leg in accident while crossing the road. Under guidance of Dr. Medha bhave & Dr.Subodh Mehta, a major surgery & treatment successfully done in both Param Hospital & Hospital Subodh Mehta. After recovery period of nine months, Shankar is able to walk independently.

We received a letter from Congress President Rahul Gandhi thane branch of congress party on 9th August, 2018. He conveyed his message & praised about efforts of signal shala taking for educational rights of underprivileged children.
Unique Diwali festival at Singal School
On 3rd November, 2017, Signal Shala celebrated Diwali fest. The main attraction of this Diwali fest is inauguration of modern science lab, new classes & signal shala banks Counter . This Diwali become more delicious with the feast of melody music, worship of Saraswati goddess etc. This was next successful step of signal shala after writing and reading level success stories.
Diwali Festival
On 26th October, 2019, like every year, Diwali festival celebrated to light up the dark world of underprivileged children. What was the special this time? The students of Signal Shala, presented their ideas & full-fledged capacity through the concept ‘collage of future’. There was exhibition planned and held by students. An interesting activity of puzzle solving was there for all audience to make the programme more interesting. In exhibition, some projects also there on topics like ‘Best from waste’, ‘great bath Facility in harappan culture’ , ‘uses of clay material etc. Another attraction of Diwali festival was visit of eminent personalities like Bhau Kadam, Kushal badrike, Atul todankar, Viju mane and Abhijit Panse. This opportunity brought open talks with artist Bhau Kadam, Kushal Badrike & Atul todankar.
Bus service
families Rehab to Rental Home from teen hat Naka Bridge to Kalwa Area. Due to the rehab , it was bit difficult for students to come in school in time. Around 18-20 students were coming from Kalwa. Firstly, their parents hesitated to send their children due to long distance. Thus immediately, on 26th November, 2018, signal shala started bus services to save their time. This facility also benefited to increase the number of regular coming students.
Redcliff CBSE School, marathon
On 2nd December 2017, Redcliff CBSE School organised cyclothon & skating under marathon. On this occasion, the fund gathered for marathon was given to the signal shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspith. This time, Lalita Babar, an Indian runner was present to motivate the participants.
‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book publication ceremony
The amazing journey from begging to learning, under bridge ‘ghosts’ to robotics,container class to modern school is shown through this ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book on 23rd December, 2018. This contains nearby twenty articles on different projects and educational experiments held in signal school along with essays, poems & drawings of students. Well known eminent personalities like Abhijit Panse, Ankush Chaudhari, Ajit Parab, Atul Parchure, Viju Mane, Shirish latkar& Jayant Pawar were present at publication ceremony. Abhijit Panse is honorary editor and Viju Mane, Shirish latkar, Jayant Pawar, Dr.Vijaya Wad, Kaushal Inamdar &Kushal badrike are guest editor of ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’.
Science Exhibition, Dombivali
Students of Signal shala took participation in science exhibition organised by General Education Institute Dadar, Marathi Vidnyan Parishad, Thane Division & Kalyan- Dombivali Municipal Corporation. This exhibition organised from 5th to 6th January, 2019 at S. V. Vidyasankul, Dombivali. Under the guidance of prof. Balasaheb Khollam, student presented the experiment of conversion of sea water into the fresh drinkable water with the help of solar energy. This project received 7th rank at state level competition.
Ground Making
Playground is an indivisible part of School life. In the first week of January, playground was ready for games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi etc.
Project of Agriculture
On 9th February, 2019, agriculture project started to give basic education of agriculture which plays major role in Indian Economy and Diet. Every Saturday, volunteers of Cognizant Company come in Signal shala to teach lessons of agriculture to students.
Raigad trip
In the third academic year of signal shala, Raigad trip was memorable event in the timeline of signal shala. The happiness & curiosity was doubled since preparation for the trip. On 16th February, 2019, all students & teachers enjoyed trip with great enthusiasm.
Counselling of mother parent
Why we need counselling of mother parent? In the underprivileged sections of society, lack of literacy, poverty, female foeticide, more hands to run family lead to lack of family planning. In poverty, due to major misconceptions & superstitions, they don’t have proper family planning which spread more poverty again. To stop this vicious cycle, we focus on basic important step i.e. counselling of mother parent. Accordingly, operation of mothers took place after having child in March, 2019. Time to time, we also organised necessary sessions on healthy lifestyle, hygiene & menstruation cycle. Now, Mrs Supriya Karnik has come forward to lead this initiative and counsel the mother parents.
Annual Exam
The result of academic year 2018-19 was declared on 2nd may, 2019 at school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation. The very positive outcome is all students passed the exam successfully.
Internship of Mohan
10th passed student of Signal shala, Mohan Prabhu Kale is now completing his further education in diploma in engineering at Rustamji Academy for Global Careers. The next part of this success story is, he completed his two month internship at Tech Mahindra company in Pune which was started from 3rd May, 2019.
Atul Pawar, Photography training
The Photo Circle Society organised photography workshop from 11th may to 12th may for 6 hours on both days i.e. from 10am to 4pm at Thane kalabhavan, kapurwadi. They taught about handling of camera and detail information. Our 9thstd Student, Atul Jalandar Pawar took participation in this workshop and also successfully completed further training of photography.
Bhel making activity
On 24thMarch, 2019 & 11th May, 2019, Bhel making activity was arranged under the concept of ‘value of cooperation & togetherness’. In this activity, all students made bhel with maintaining the quality and quantity from self-cleanliness to the cleanliness of place. On this occasion, award ceremony also organised to award the best performers of the year. Everyone enjoyed the ceremony while taking the taste of both bhel & award.'
Unique Gopalkala for strong bond making
Every year, on the occasion of Gopalkala, there is ‘PustakHandi’ programme. Every year we maintain quality & uniqueness of programme. In this activity, students enjoy the extra book reading. We are in mainstream of education that credit goes to the society who shows the path of equality & unity. On this occasion, we expressed gratitude for the supporting society. On 1st September, 2018, student along with teachers visited local police station and other local administrative officers.
Material resources at signal school
On 9th June 2019, there was an inauguration of material facilities at school. On this occasion, Bari Rasin, Dr.Ashesh Ganguli, Nilesh Puranik, Govind Khetan of Rotari Club of Thane Hills were present. This helped to make school facilitated by necessary material resources to assist progress.
Admission of Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale
On 17th June 2019, 6thstd students of signal shala, Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale got admission in Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To make children capable & bring them in the mainstream of education is the main aim of our Signal Shala. To achieve this target we took next step to do admission of both students in Sarswati Vidya Mandir School so that their confidence of learning at any school will increase. Both students passed the entrance exam of Sarswati Vidya Mandir. They got more than 50% in exam. From the academic year 2018-19, they continued their educational education in new school i.e. Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To see this success, we got help of Shree. Suresh Dighe, a trusty of school.
Robotics Science
Purushottam Pachpande, Founder of robotics Lab, took session of robotics science at Signal Shala. Firstly we arranged these sessions for secondary division on every Friday. All students enjoyed the session as this type of session found very interesting to them. We have started this session at school to make children familiar & knowledgeable about running technology in this era.
Group discussion
Group discussion is one of study technique which helps to understand the subject in every aspect. By understanding its importance, we made groups of students to have group discussion on different study subjects E.g. While studying Geography, students asked queries about planetary system, & universe, colours of planets, human species etc further, they asked about rocket technology. It is explicit that no doubt all children have the curiosity and enthusiasm to know more and more about subjects. Group discussion helps to nurture the qualities of listening & courage to ask question. Therefore, we have initiated this activity at signal shala.
The result of academic year 2018-19
The annual result declared on 28th April 2018. All students passed the exam successfully. Mohan Kale &Dasharath Pawar, passed the 10th std Exam. Mohan & Dasharath passed the exam with 76% & 65% respectively. Now, Mohan is taking diploma degree in engineering whereas Dasharath is taking his further education in art stream. Dasharath’s dream is to become a police officer so simultaneously he is taking police training along with study of BA.

Independence Day & Republic Day
15th August 2016 marked as a day of educational revolution & true freedom of children of Signal School. The children who are selling paper made Indian flags on road are now able to hold their own educational flag for their bright future to prepare themselves for the country. Children worshiped the image of flag. This is how, every time, we celebrate Independence Day & Republic Day at Signal Shala.
Inauguration of Signal Shala
On 19th August 2016, there was an inauguration of signal shala run by Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth. Inauguration of signal shala was done successfully in the presence of mayor Sanjay More, vice mayor Rajendra Sapte, commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, senior corporator Milind Patankar, Vikas Repale, Namrata Bhosale & Signal Shala family.
Varsha Marathon, thane
On Sunday, 28th August 2016, varsha marathon was organised at 7am in front of TMC building. Students of signal shala participated in varsha marathon of thane. This was the first ever experience of students to participate in this marathon. Viju mane &SantoshJuvekar also participated in marathon to encourage the students.
Cleanliness Campaign – Human chain
On 23 October 2016, students of signal shala participated in ‘My Thane, Beautiful Thane’ organised by PM Clean India Campaign. Being a part of campaign, students were also delivering the message of cleanliness to others.
Meet with respected BabasahebPurandare
On 27th December 2016, a speech of BabasahebPurandare was organised by Ashwamedh Pratisthan of Mayuresh Joshi in Thane. Students of signal shala participated in this programme. They got a golden opportunity to do shivaarati & also received blessings of eminent personality BabasahebPurandare.
Inauguration Nursery
After the eight to nine Month experience, we realised the necessity of Balwadi at Signal Shala to stop habit of parents to send their younger children on roads for begging. On the holy occasion of Gudipadwa (28th March 2017), Inauguration of balwadi was successfully done in the presence of commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, mayor Minakshi Shinde, corporator Naresh Mhaske, education officer Urmila Paradhe, Kiran shelar, an editor of Mumbai Tarun Bharat newspaper & members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth & signal shala team.
The first ever platform for students
On the background of children’s day, students of signal shala gave performances at acharya Atre katta. This programme was organised on 16th November 2018 by ‘Acharya atre sanskrutik mandal’ for children’s day special.
Women’s day special
On 8th March 2017, we showed the short film on the life & work of MalalaYusufzai. We also gave the introduction of MalalaYusufzai to the students & their mothers. We also provided the session on awareness regarding menstrual cycle to mothers. This is how in innovative way we successfully celebrated the women’s day.
VirJijamataUdyan visits
On 6th June 2017, with the help of Abhijit Chavan, educational visit was arranged for children at Vir Jijamata Udyan & Siddhivinayak temple. They got an opportunity to see wild animals at rani bag, bhaiklhala. Interestingly, they were so happy to see humbolt penguin bird.
Yoga day
Every year we celebrated Yoga day at signal school on International Yoga Day i.e. 21st June. Swati Mudumvar, a yoga teacher, mallakhamb teacher & other sports teacher gave guidance to children about yoga & exercises. On that day, children were learning about how yoga, mediation & exercises help to maintain good physical & mental health. The programme ended with Suryanamaskar. Also, all members of Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth& signal shala team took active participation.
Gurupornimautsav
On the occasion of Gurupornima, we celebrated completion of academic year of signal shala & Gurupornima. On this day, we felicitated the 10th passed children of members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. Students of TMC ( Mumbra) performed the miming show on the topics military & major problems of India.
Rainy trip – visit to FulpakharuUdyan
On 20th August 2017, with the help of DhanashreeNandgavkar, first rainy trip was planned at fulpakharuudyan in Ovalekarwadi. All students enjoyed the watching butterflies and greenery in rainy season.
Cultural programmes
Every year, Education division of TMC organised cultural programmes at school level. This time programme held at TMC Dagadi School, charai. Our students of signal shala also took participation in this cultural programme. The students were doing dance practice on folk song ‘vitthalvitthal’ for continuous 15 days rigorously under the guidance of Sadhana Tai.
Bhondala
Every year, bhondla&rasagarba are celebrated on the occasion of Navaratra. Students stood around bhodhla elephant in the ring form and walk in circle by chanting ‘ eklimboojhelubai, don limboojhelu. The bhondla programme started by worship of sarswati image on slate. All students enjoyed the rasagraba, bhondla & khirapat, a feast of the day. Their happy & smiley faces were saying how much they enjoyed this cultural programme.
Govar-Rubella vaccination
After polio free India, government put next target of govar-rubella free India. Thus, on 1st December 2018, we took our students of signal shala in,school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation for the vaccination. Total 38 children were vaccinated there.
Swami Vivekananda daud
Every year we celebrate 12th January, a birthdate of Sami Vivekananda as a national youth day. ‘Vivekananda daud jagar yuvashakticha – sanman strishakticha’ was organised with the help of Bhagini Nivedita Utkarsha Mndal. The students of signal shala also participated in this daud (running race).
Science Day
On 28th February 2019, students of signal shala celebrated science day with an enthusiasm. Some of the students gave presentation on scientific concepts &science experiments in front of other remaining students. Suman Shevale gave guidance throughout the process. Rangapanchami & workshop on natural colour
First, student received the training of natural colour making under the guidance of Ulhas Karle. They learned from the demonstration how to make colours like red, yellow, saffron, white, blue, purple by adding liquid colours into the organic powder. On Wednesday, 20th March 2019, all students enjoyed environment friendly rangapanchami by using handmade colours. This was a unique celebration.
Roti day
What’s this concept about? With a social awareness, there is a food donation programme for needy people of the society. On 1st March, Roti day was celebrated with the help of Viju Mane.
Signal school ‘SangeetRajani’
Amitraje and Pancham group held a programme ‘Aatirahengibahare’ which includes some old & new hindi marathi songs at placeGadakarirangayatan, thane on 17th June 2019.This programme was organised in the viewpoint of fund collection for signal shala& get together of well-wishers of signal shala. Supriyakarnik of school had taken the whole responsibility on their shoulder. The programme was successful with the support of Janatasahakari bank ltd.
Health check-up day
We observed that while teaching some student’s hands most of the times go towards back & legs. Why were they so irritated? The simple answer is living on streets in totally unhygienic conditions made them unhealthier. Most of the students were facing itching, skin allergy & random fever. On the serious note, Signal shala decided to conduct health check-ups at least once in two months. The first health check-up conducted under guidance of Dr. Medha Bhave & Dr.Parul on 21st June 2016. Accordingly, in four years, we conducted 7 primary health check-ups, 3 dental check-ups, 1 eye check-up & 2 vaccinations as per need.The necessary tablets & medicines also provided time to time.
Visit to KidZania
On 11th July, 2019, along with students of Balsnehalaya, our students of signal shala visited KidZania at R City mall in Ghakopar. They enjoyed the real experience of different fields like police, fire brigade centre, doctor, dabbevala, trekking and beautician. They liked thisactivity based education. This day was one of the memorable days in their life.
Ashadhi Ekadashi
Every year, students of signal shala pray to the god vitthal. In first year, students did ‘Aksharwari’ & in next year, students celebrated ‘vrukshadindi’ & ‘pustakdindi’. Through ‘vrukshadindi, they gave message of tree planting to save the environment. They also gifted tulasi plant to the people. This initiative received a very positive response.
Signal Shala Marathon
On 21st July 2019, ‘Road Runners’ organisation held a marathon for financial support to the signal shala. It was planned at VasantVihar club house, Thane. So many citizens of thane participated in the marathon. All students & teachers of signal shala were present at this place.
Bird’s journey
On 22nd August 2019, Green Works Trust & Ses foundation organised a programme on bird’s journey under the title ‘stories of bird’. Prof Balasaheb Khollam did all the planning of the programme. Krupa Patil & their team delivered a session on birds in a very easy & creative way to the children. They gifted 50 copies of book ‘Birds of Maharashtra’ to our signal shala.
Awareness about ‘menstrual cycle’
Signal shala started campaign for females to know about importance of care taken in days of periods. In the lead of Amruta Mishra (supporter at signal shala), we conducted the programme on 28th August 2019. Dr. ShobhanaNayar&Amruta Mishra gave guidanceto both daughters & their mother through audio-visual medium.
Visit of education minister
On 12th January 2017, honorary education minister of state, VinodTawade visited our signal shala. He had conversation with students of signal shala. He expressed his belief & said, “Do hard work for bright future, work with energy, government is with you.”
Visit of wrestler Sangram Singh
On 8th August 2017, Sangram Singh, a wrestler visited to signal shala. Students come to know the Indian wrestler who represents our India at international level.
Visit of Pravin Ghuge, head of child right commission
On 19th July 2018, PravinGhuge, head of child right commission gave visit to Signal shala. He talked with students, parents & teacher to know the problems. On this day, deputy commissioner of TMC Manish Joshi, education minister UrmilaPardhe& founder of ‘Samatol’ foundation Vijay Jadhav, AaratiNemane&other activists were also present.
Human Resource Development Mantralay, Delhi
On 16th October 2018, volunteers of social organisation adjacent with Human Resource Development Mantralay, Delhi visited to signal shala.

On 11th January 2019, Students of signal shala got golden opportunity to visit the Burns & Macdonald Company. Students enjoyed the games & educational documentary film. On 9th January 2019, the foreign volunteers gave visit to the Burns & Macdonald Company. At that time, sport fest was going on in Signal shala. Thus, volunteers were happy to see performance of students in the field of sports & they gave their best wishes to the bright future of the children.

Visit of the students of Saint Thomas School, Kerala
On 22nd May 2019, five students & two teachers from Kerala ( A state with a 100% literacy rate) visited to know more about Signal shala. To study the different educational experiments carried out outside of Kerala is the main motive of their visit.
Achievements & awards
The first annual exam of students
The first annual exam on the bases of school syllabus was dated from 5th April to 14th April in 2017. This was the first time in their life, students of signal shala were giving annual exam & they were able solve it. On 29th April 2019, signal shala scored 99% result in annual exam. Total 18 students sat for exam. 17 students passed the annual exam conducted by education department of TMC. One student couldn’t able to pass the exam due to some certain reason.

Every year ‘the institute of leadership & governance’, Maharaja Sayajirao University announces an honorary award ‘YugantarPuraskar’. On 23rd July 2019, Signal Shala, an educational model is selected as DindayalUpadhyayAntodyay best practice by cultural department of central government. Our project is selected in 200 selected projects out of 1000 projects from 35 states.

Aadhar cards of children
Signal School has made aadhar cards (Unique Identity Citizenship Number) of all children. This card gives them legal identity.
Library - Reading corner
On 3rd march 2017, reading corner has been started intentionally. This ‘reading corner’ will boost the interest of extra reading and knowledge of language among children. After 4pm, at least half an hour books is kept for ‘reading corner’.
Evaluation test of children
Kinjal Chandra, pehalpediatric therapy centre & her team did the quality evaluation test of children. This helps to understand the scientific reasons behind problems that are there in the view of study. As a result, this helps to bring necessary changes in the teaching methods.
Night Shelter at school
The street life made them mandatory to sleep on footpath only. Children couldn’t able to sleep early with enough time. Thus, signal shala has provided facility to let boys to sleep safely & we also take care of girls that they will sleep with their parents only.
Joyful education with the children of Lodha World School
Erlier day of signal shala On every Saturday, children of signal shala visit the lodha world school to get familiar & aware of outside world, the ambience, other children, bigger classes, other teachers etc. They experienced different world through interesting talks, discussion, and learning, playing & eating together. As a result, we observed confidence among children. Along with outdoor games, children also enjoyed sessions on health and communication skills. principle of lodha world school helped in many ways to see such positive result.
Slow learner to normal
In signal shala, there is lot of emphasis not only on education but also on holistic development of an individual. While teaching, babadi, a nine year old boy found distinct with the signs of slow learner. He needed special therapy. From January, 2017, special therapy was given with the help of Era Gurukul School for a year. After successful speech therapy & learning process development, now competent babadi have become one of those normal students of signal shala.
Summer vacation activities
When all other schools have summer vacation, signal shala get engaged into preparation of summer programmes.Instead of giving holidays, we work proactively on educational quality and skill of children. The vital intention behind this is to develop helping nature, leadership qualities & awareness of personal & surrounding cleanliness through different activities like group activities, garden work etc. As a result, they are able to first listen and then follow the order of team leader in a cooperative manner which helps to shape their leadership qualities and team building skills effectively.

Monthly parents meeting is there to discuss about hygiene issues, discipline, care of school stuffs & responsibilities of parents.
Neki ka Pitara
Kusharu pocha from Nagpur has brought this unique concept. What’s this concept about? In this unique initiative, anyone can add nutritious food into the fridge i.e. ‘nekikapitara’ for malnutricious people. There is a whatsapp group to make an idea more feasible. This nutritious food includes fruits, vegetables, staple food, milk etc. ‘neki ka pitara’ has come in signal shala & provided good nutritious food to the children.
Visit at Neharu planetarium
On 18th July, 2017, the volunteers of Dan & Bradstreet company arranged ‘educational visit’ at Nehru planetarium. This golden opportunity triggers the curiosity of children to know about universe and earth we live upon.
First sports fest
In 2017, first sport fest of signal shala held from 17th to 19th December. At this fest, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho along with exciting individual games like running, three legs race & spoon & marble were there. All children enjoyed lot with sportsman spirit.
Sport fest
In 2019, second sport fest held from 9th to 10th January among three groups of student. The competition was among primary, secondary & pre-primary group. For pre- primary division, games like frog jumps, three legs race, and running were there. For secondary division, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi & individual games like long jumps & running were there. Such sports festival helps children at both mental & physical level enrichment.
Painting of under bridge places
Rotary club of thane garden city & Nerolak Company come forward to decorate the signal school by doing beautiful paintings at under bridge places. This painting and colouring make the world of children of signal shala so beautiful & colourful.
Saving account of students
Signal shala opened saving bank account of 35 students in Apana Bank & Central Bank of India. The government has started DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme for students of municipal schools. Under this scheme, money gets saved into their bank account. On the basis of that money, they received school stuffs.
Rehabilitation of families
Samarth Bharat Vyaspith initiates the rehabilitation of families of students who were living in unhygienic conditions on streets. Now, they have been provided with good, hygienic safe shelter. Viju Mane, a well-wisher of signal shala & citizens of thane gave big financial support for this positive step.
Science exhibition
Every year, signal shala participates in science exhibition at school level held by Thane Municipal Corporation to present the models on the basis of science concepts. Inter school science exhibition held from 8th to 10th December, 2017. Children of singal shala came forward with innovative concept called as ‘smart signal.’ Generally, we see how carelessness and negligence of traffic and signal rules brings chaos and accidents on road. Surprisingly, these children living on streets came forward with practical solutions. ‘Raddi Paper Scrub’&Purushottam Pachpande, Robotics Lab Team helped children to present the ‘smart signal project’.
Akshaypatra
Thane municipal Corporation along with Iskon, a private social organisation planned ‘akshaypatra’, an initiative to provide nutritious lunch for underprivileged sections of society. Now, this scheme is also started in ‘signal shala’.
Self-reliant Shankar
On 25th January, 2017, unfortunately, Shankar Balu Pawar had major damage to his right leg in accident while crossing the road. Under guidance of Dr. Medha bhave & Dr.Subodh Mehta, a major surgery & treatment successfully done in both Param Hospital & Hospital Subodh Mehta. After recovery period of nine months, Shankar is able to walk independently.

We received a letter from Congress President Rahul Gandhi thane branch of congress party on 9th August, 2018. He conveyed his message & praised about efforts of signal shala taking for educational rights of underprivileged children.
Unique Diwali festival at Singal School
On 3rd November, 2017, Signal Shala celebrated Diwali fest. The main attraction of this Diwali fest is inauguration of modern science lab, new classes & signal shala banks Counter . This Diwali become more delicious with the feast of melody music, worship of Saraswati goddess etc. This was next successful step of signal shala after writing and reading level success stories.
Diwali Festival
On 26th October, 2019, like every year, Diwali festival celebrated to light up the dark world of underprivileged children. What was the special this time? The students of Signal Shala, presented their ideas & full-fledged capacity through the concept ‘collage of future’. There was exhibition planned and held by students. An interesting activity of puzzle solving was there for all audience to make the programme more interesting. In exhibition, some projects also there on topics like ‘Best from waste’, ‘great bath Facility in harappan culture’ , ‘uses of clay material etc. Another attraction of Diwali festival was visit of eminent personalities like Bhau Kadam, Kushal badrike, Atul todankar, Viju mane and Abhijit Panse. This opportunity brought open talks with artist Bhau Kadam, Kushal Badrike & Atul todankar.
Bus service
families Rehab to Rental Home from teen hat Naka Bridge to Kalwa Area. Due to the rehab , it was bit difficult for students to come in school in time. Around 18-20 students were coming from Kalwa. Firstly, their parents hesitated to send their children due to long distance. Thus immediately, on 26th November, 2018, signal shala started bus services to save their time. This facility also benefited to increase the number of regular coming students.
Redcliff CBSE School, marathon
On 2nd December 2017, Redcliff CBSE School organised cyclothon & skating under marathon. On this occasion, the fund gathered for marathon was given to the signal shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspith. This time, Lalita Babar, an Indian runner was present to motivate the participants.
‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book publication ceremony
The amazing journey from begging to learning, under bridge ‘ghosts’ to robotics,container class to modern school is shown through this ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book on 23rd December, 2018. This contains nearby twenty articles on different projects and educational experiments held in signal school along with essays, poems & drawings of students. Well known eminent personalities like Abhijit Panse, Ankush Chaudhari, Ajit Parab, Atul Parchure, Viju Mane, Shirish latkar& Jayant Pawar were present at publication ceremony. Abhijit Panse is honorary editor and Viju Mane, Shirish latkar, Jayant Pawar, Dr.Vijaya Wad, Kaushal Inamdar &Kushal badrike are guest editor of ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’.
Science Exhibition, Dombivali
Students of Signal shala took participation in science exhibition organised by General Education Institute Dadar, Marathi Vidnyan Parishad, Thane Division & Kalyan- Dombivali Municipal Corporation. This exhibition organised from 5th to 6th January, 2019 at S. V. Vidyasankul, Dombivali. Under the guidance of prof. Balasaheb Khollam, student presented the experiment of conversion of sea water into the fresh drinkable water with the help of solar energy. This project received 7th rank at state level competition.
Ground Making
Playground is an indivisible part of School life. In the first week of January, playground was ready for games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi etc.
Project of Agriculture
On 9th February, 2019, agriculture project started to give basic education of agriculture which plays major role in Indian Economy and Diet. Every Saturday, volunteers of Cognizant Company come in Signal shala to teach lessons of agriculture to students.
Raigad trip
In the third academic year of signal shala, Raigad trip was memorable event in the timeline of signal shala. The happiness & curiosity was doubled since preparation for the trip. On 16th February, 2019, all students & teachers enjoyed trip with great enthusiasm.
Counselling of mother parent
Why we need counselling of mother parent? In the underprivileged sections of society, lack of literacy, poverty, female foeticide, more hands to run family lead to lack of family planning. In poverty, due to major misconceptions & superstitions, they don’t have proper family planning which spread more poverty again. To stop this vicious cycle, we focus on basic important step i.e. counselling of mother parent. Accordingly, operation of mothers took place after having child in March, 2019. Time to time, we also organised necessary sessions on healthy lifestyle, hygiene & menstruation cycle. Now, Mrs Supriya Karnik has come forward to lead this initiative and counsel the mother parents.
Annual Exam
The result of academic year 2018-19 was declared on 2nd may, 2019 at school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation. The very positive outcome is all students passed the exam successfully.
Internship of Mohan
10th passed student of Signal shala, Mohan Prabhu Kale is now completing his further education in diploma in engineering at Rustamji Academy for Global Careers. The next part of this success story is, he completed his two month internship at Tech Mahindra company in Pune which was started from 3rd May, 2019.
Atul Pawar, Photography training
The Photo Circle Society organised photography workshop from 11th may to 12th may for 6 hours on both days i.e. from 10am to 4pm at Thane kalabhavan, kapurwadi. They taught about handling of camera and detail information. Our 9thstd Student, Atul Jalandar Pawar took participation in this workshop and also successfully completed further training of photography.
Bhel making activity
On 24thMarch, 2019 & 11th May, 2019, Bhel making activity was arranged under the concept of ‘value of cooperation & togetherness’. In this activity, all students made bhel with maintaining the quality and quantity from self-cleanliness to the cleanliness of place. On this occasion, award ceremony also organised to award the best performers of the year. Everyone enjoyed the ceremony while taking the taste of both bhel & award.'
Unique Gopalkala for strong bond making
Every year, on the occasion of Gopalkala, there is ‘PustakHandi’ programme. Every year we maintain quality & uniqueness of programme. In this activity, students enjoy the extra book reading. We are in mainstream of education that credit goes to the society who shows the path of equality & unity. On this occasion, we expressed gratitude for the supporting society. On 1st September, 2018, student along with teachers visited local police station and other local administrative officers.
Material resources at signal school
On 9th June 2019, there was an inauguration of material facilities at school. On this occasion, Bari Rasin, Dr.Ashesh Ganguli, Nilesh Puranik, Govind Khetan of Rotari Club of Thane Hills were present. This helped to make school facilitated by necessary material resources to assist progress.
Admission of Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale
On 17th June 2019, 6thstd students of signal shala, Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale got admission in Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To make children capable & bring them in the mainstream of education is the main aim of our Signal Shala. To achieve this target we took next step to do admission of both students in Sarswati Vidya Mandir School so that their confidence of learning at any school will increase. Both students passed the entrance exam of Sarswati Vidya Mandir. They got more than 50% in exam. From the academic year 2018-19, they continued their educational education in new school i.e. Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To see this success, we got help of Shree. Suresh Dighe, a trusty of school.
Robotics Science
Purushottam Pachpande, Founder of robotics Lab, took session of robotics science at Signal Shala. Firstly we arranged these sessions for secondary division on every Friday. All students enjoyed the session as this type of session found very interesting to them. We have started this session at school to make children familiar & knowledgeable about running technology in this era.
Group discussion
Group discussion is one of study technique which helps to understand the subject in every aspect. By understanding its importance, we made groups of students to have group discussion on different study subjects E.g. While studying Geography, students asked queries about planetary system, & universe, colours of planets, human species etc further, they asked about rocket technology. It is explicit that no doubt all children have the curiosity and enthusiasm to know more and more about subjects. Group discussion helps to nurture the qualities of listening & courage to ask question. Therefore, we have initiated this activity at signal shala.
The result of academic year 2018-19
The annual result declared on 28th April 2018. All students passed the exam successfully. Mohan Kale &Dasharath Pawar, passed the 10th std Exam. Mohan & Dasharath passed the exam with 76% & 65% respectively. Now, Mohan is taking diploma degree in engineering whereas Dasharath is taking his further education in art stream. Dasharath’s dream is to become a police officer so simultaneously he is taking police training along with study of BA.

Independence Day & Republic Day
15th August 2016 marked as a day of educational revolution & true freedom of children of Signal School. The children who are selling paper made Indian flags on road are now able to hold their own educational flag for their bright future to prepare themselves for the country. Children worshiped the image of flag. This is how, every time, we celebrate Independence Day & Republic Day at Signal Shala.
Inauguration of Signal Shala
On 19th August 2016, there was an inauguration of signal shala run by Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth. Inauguration of signal shala was done successfully in the presence of mayor Sanjay More, vice mayor Rajendra Sapte, commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, senior corporator Milind Patankar, Vikas Repale, Namrata Bhosale & Signal Shala family.
Varsha Marathon, thane
On Sunday, 28th August 2016, varsha marathon was organised at 7am in front of TMC building. Students of signal shala participated in varsha marathon of thane. This was the first ever experience of students to participate in this marathon. Viju mane &SantoshJuvekar also participated in marathon to encourage the students.
Cleanliness Campaign – Human chain
On 23 October 2016, students of signal shala participated in ‘My Thane, Beautiful Thane’ organised by PM Clean India Campaign. Being a part of campaign, students were also delivering the message of cleanliness to others.
Meet with respected BabasahebPurandare
On 27th December 2016, a speech of BabasahebPurandare was organised by Ashwamedh Pratisthan of Mayuresh Joshi in Thane. Students of signal shala participated in this programme. They got a golden opportunity to do shivaarati & also received blessings of eminent personality BabasahebPurandare.
Inauguration Nursery
After the eight to nine Month experience, we realised the necessity of Balwadi at Signal Shala to stop habit of parents to send their younger children on roads for begging. On the holy occasion of Gudipadwa (28th March 2017), Inauguration of balwadi was successfully done in the presence of commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, mayor Minakshi Shinde, corporator Naresh Mhaske, education officer Urmila Paradhe, Kiran shelar, an editor of Mumbai Tarun Bharat newspaper & members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth & signal shala team.
The first ever platform for students
On the background of children’s day, students of signal shala gave performances at acharya Atre katta. This programme was organised on 16th November 2018 by ‘Acharya atre sanskrutik mandal’ for children’s day special.
Women’s day special
On 8th March 2017, we showed the short film on the life & work of MalalaYusufzai. We also gave the introduction of MalalaYusufzai to the students & their mothers. We also provided the session on awareness regarding menstrual cycle to mothers. This is how in innovative way we successfully celebrated the women’s day.
VirJijamataUdyan visits
On 6th June 2017, with the help of Abhijit Chavan, educational visit was arranged for children at Vir Jijamata Udyan & Siddhivinayak temple. They got an opportunity to see wild animals at rani bag, bhaiklhala. Interestingly, they were so happy to see humbolt penguin bird.
Yoga day
Every year we celebrated Yoga day at signal school on International Yoga Day i.e. 21st June. Swati Mudumvar, a yoga teacher, mallakhamb teacher & other sports teacher gave guidance to children about yoga & exercises. On that day, children were learning about how yoga, mediation & exercises help to maintain good physical & mental health. The programme ended with Suryanamaskar. Also, all members of Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth& signal shala team took active participation.
Gurupornimautsav
On the occasion of Gurupornima, we celebrated completion of academic year of signal shala & Gurupornima. On this day, we felicitated the 10th passed children of members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. Students of TMC ( Mumbra) performed the miming show on the topics military & major problems of India.
Rainy trip – visit to FulpakharuUdyan
On 20th August 2017, with the help of DhanashreeNandgavkar, first rainy trip was planned at fulpakharuudyan in Ovalekarwadi. All students enjoyed the watching butterflies and greenery in rainy season.
Cultural programmes
Every year, Education division of TMC organised cultural programmes at school level. This time programme held at TMC Dagadi School, charai. Our students of signal shala also took participation in this cultural programme. The students were doing dance practice on folk song ‘vitthalvitthal’ for continuous 15 days rigorously under the guidance of Sadhana Tai.
Bhondala
Every year, bhondla&rasagarba are celebrated on the occasion of Navaratra. Students stood around bhodhla elephant in the ring form and walk in circle by chanting ‘ eklimboojhelubai, don limboojhelu. The bhondla programme started by worship of sarswati image on slate. All students enjoyed the rasagraba, bhondla & khirapat, a feast of the day. Their happy & smiley faces were saying how much they enjoyed this cultural programme.
Govar-Rubella vaccination
After polio free India, government put next target of govar-rubella free India. Thus, on 1st December 2018, we took our students of signal shala in,school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation for the vaccination. Total 38 children were vaccinated there.
Swami Vivekananda daud
Every year we celebrate 12th January, a birthdate of Sami Vivekananda as a national youth day. ‘Vivekananda daud jagar yuvashakticha – sanman strishakticha’ was organised with the help of Bhagini Nivedita Utkarsha Mndal. The students of signal shala also participated in this daud (running race).
Science Day
On 28th February 2019, students of signal shala celebrated science day with an enthusiasm. Some of the students gave presentation on scientific concepts &science experiments in front of other remaining students. Suman Shevale gave guidance throughout the process. Rangapanchami & workshop on natural colour
First, student received the training of natural colour making under the guidance of Ulhas Karle. They learned from the demonstration how to make colours like red, yellow, saffron, white, blue, purple by adding liquid colours into the organic powder. On Wednesday, 20th March 2019, all students enjoyed environment friendly rangapanchami by using handmade colours. This was a unique celebration.
Roti day
What’s this concept about? With a social awareness, there is a food donation programme for needy people of the society. On 1st March, Roti day was celebrated with the help of Viju Mane.
Signal school ‘SangeetRajani’
Amitraje and Pancham group held a programme ‘Aatirahengibahare’ which includes some old & new hindi marathi songs at placeGadakarirangayatan, thane on 17th June 2019.This programme was organised in the viewpoint of fund collection for signal shala& get together of well-wishers of signal shala. Supriyakarnik of school had taken the whole responsibility on their shoulder. The programme was successful with the support of Janatasahakari bank ltd.
Health check-up day
We observed that while teaching some student’s hands most of the times go towards back & legs. Why were they so irritated? The simple answer is living on streets in totally unhygienic conditions made them unhealthier. Most of the students were facing itching, skin allergy & random fever. On the serious note, Signal shala decided to conduct health check-ups at least once in two months. The first health check-up conducted under guidance of Dr. Medha Bhave & Dr.Parul on 21st June 2016. Accordingly, in four years, we conducted 7 primary health check-ups, 3 dental check-ups, 1 eye check-up & 2 vaccinations as per need.The necessary tablets & medicines also provided time to time.
Visit to KidZania
On 11th July, 2019, along with students of Balsnehalaya, our students of signal shala visited KidZania at R City mall in Ghakopar. They enjoyed the real experience of different fields like police, fire brigade centre, doctor, dabbevala, trekking and beautician. They liked thisactivity based education. This day was one of the memorable days in their life.
Ashadhi Ekadashi
Every year, students of signal shala pray to the god vitthal. In first year, students did ‘Aksharwari’ & in next year, students celebrated ‘vrukshadindi’ & ‘pustakdindi’. Through ‘vrukshadindi, they gave message of tree planting to save the environment. They also gifted tulasi plant to the people. This initiative received a very positive response.
Signal Shala Marathon
On 21st July 2019, ‘Road Runners’ organisation held a marathon for financial support to the signal shala. It was planned at VasantVihar club house, Thane. So many citizens of thane participated in the marathon. All students & teachers of signal shala were present at this place.
Bird’s journey
On 22nd August 2019, Green Works Trust & Ses foundation organised a programme on bird’s journey under the title ‘stories of bird’. Prof Balasaheb Khollam did all the planning of the programme. Krupa Patil & their team delivered a session on birds in a very easy & creative way to the children. They gifted 50 copies of book ‘Birds of Maharashtra’ to our signal shala.
Awareness about ‘menstrual cycle’
Signal shala started campaign for females to know about importance of care taken in days of periods. In the lead of Amruta Mishra (supporter at signal shala), we conducted the programme on 28th August 2019. On 8th August 2017, Sangram Singh, a wrestler visited to signal shala. Students come to know the Indian wrestler who represents our India at international level.

On 19th July 2018, PravinGhuge, head of child right commission gave visit to Signal shala. He talked with students, parents & teacher to know the problems. On this day, deputy commissioner of TMC Manish Joshi, education minister UrmilaPardhe& founder of ‘Samatol’ foundation Vijay Jadhav, AaratiNemane&other activists were also present.

Visit to Burns & Macdonald Company
On 11th January 2019, Students of signal shala got golden opportunity to visit the Burns & Macdonald Company. Students enjoyed the games & educational documentary film. On 9th January 2019, the foreign volunteers gave visit to the Burns & Macdonald Company. At that time, sport fest was going on in Signal shala. Thus, volunteers were happy to see performance of students in the field of sports & they gave their best wishes to the bright future of the children.

A Raman Magsaysay awardee & senior social worker Dr. Bharat Watvani gave visit to the signal Shala. He expressed his expectation & belief to make this project & educational experiment as an ideal model of education by the government.

Visit of the students of Saint Thomas School, Kerala
On 22nd May 2019, five students & two teachers from Kerala ( A state with a 100% literacy rate) visited to know more about Signal shala. To study the different educational experiments carried out outside of Kerala is the main motive of their visit.
Achievements & awards
The first annual exam of students
The first annual exam on the bases of school syllabus was dated from 5th April to 14th April in 2017. This was the first time in their life, students of signal shala were giving annual exam & they were able solve it. On 29th April 2019, signal shala scored 99% result in annual exam. Total 18 students sat for exam. 17 students passed the annual exam conducted by education department of TMC. One student couldn’t able to pass the exam due to some certain reason.

In winter session of assembly, the CM declared an assurance of study of ‘Signal Shala’ educational pattern on state level. Every year ‘the institute of leadership & governance’, Maharaja Sayajirao University announces an honorary award ‘YugantarPuraskar’. In 2019, this year, Signal Shala is awarded by ‘YugantarPuraskar’ &BhatuSawant CEO of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth received a ‘Youth Hero’ award. PM NarendraModi has given their best wishes & appreciation to the work of Signal Shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. In front of youth, signal shala is one of the ideal innovative educational models.
Selection in Antodyay Scheme
On 23rd July 2019, Signal Shala, an educational model is selected as DindayalUpadhyayAntodyay best practice by cultural department of central government. Our project is selected in 200 selected projects out of 1000 projects from 35 states.
Aadhar cards of children
Signal School has made aadhar cards (Unique Identity Citizenship Number) of all children. This card gives them legal identity.
Library - Reading corner
On 3rd march 2017, reading corner has been started intentionally. This ‘reading corner’ will boost the interest of extra reading and knowledge of language among children. After 4pm, at least half an hour books is kept for ‘reading corner’.
Evaluation test of children
Kinjal Chandra, pehalpediatric therapy centre & her team did the quality evaluation test of children. This helps to understand the scientific reasons behind problems that are there in the view of study. As a result, this helps to bring necessary changes in the teaching methods.
Night Shelter at school
The street life made them mandatory to sleep on footpath only. Children couldn’t able to sleep early with enough time. Thus, signal shala has provided facility to let boys to sleep safely & we also take care of girls that they will sleep with their parents only.
Joyful education with the children of Lodha World School
Erlier day of signal shala On every Saturday, children of signal shala visit the lodha world school to get familiar & aware of outside world, the ambience, other children, bigger classes, other teachers etc. They experienced different world through interesting talks, discussion, and learning, playing & eating together. As a result, we observed confidence among children. Along with outdoor games, children also enjoyed sessions on health and communication skills. principle of lodha world school helped in many ways to see such positive result.
Slow learner to normal
In signal shala, there is lot of emphasis not only on education but also on holistic development of an individual. While teaching, babadi, a nine year old boy found distinct with the signs of slow learner. He needed special therapy. From January, 2017, special therapy was given with the help of Era Gurukul School for a year. After successful speech therapy & learning process development, now competent babadi have become one of those normal students of signal shala.
Summer vacation activities
When all other schools have summer vacation, signal shala get engaged into preparation of summer programmes.Instead of giving holidays, we work proactively on educational quality and skill of children. The vital intention behind this is to develop helping nature, leadership qualities & awareness of personal & surrounding cleanliness through different activities like group activities, garden work etc. As a result, they are able to first listen and then follow the order of team leader in a cooperative manner which helps to shape their leadership qualities and team building skills effectively.

Monthly parents meeting is there to discuss about hygiene issues, discipline, care of school stuffs & responsibilities of parents.
Neki ka Pitara
Kusharu pocha from Nagpur has brought this unique concept. What’s this concept about? In this unique initiative, anyone can add nutritious food into the fridge i.e. ‘nekikapitara’ for malnutricious people. There is a whatsapp group to make an idea more feasible. This nutritious food includes fruits, vegetables, staple food, milk etc. ‘neki ka pitara’ has come in signal shala & provided good nutritious food to the children.
Visit at Neharu planetarium
On 18th July, 2017, the volunteers of Dan & Bradstreet company arranged ‘educational visit’ at Nehru planetarium. This golden opportunity triggers the curiosity of children to know about universe and earth we live upon.
First sports fest
In 2017, first sport fest of signal shala held from 17th to 19th December. At this fest, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho along with exciting individual games like running, three legs race & spoon & marble were there. All children enjoyed lot with sportsman spirit.
Sport fest
In 2019, second sport fest held from 9th to 10th January among three groups of student. The competition was among primary, secondary & pre-primary group. For pre- primary division, games like frog jumps, three legs race, and running were there. For secondary division, group games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi & individual games like long jumps & running were there. Such sports festival helps children at both mental & physical level enrichment.
Painting of under bridge places
Rotary club of thane garden city & Nerolak Company come forward to decorate the signal school by doing beautiful paintings at under bridge places. This painting and colouring make the world of children of signal shala so beautiful & colourful.
Saving account of students
Signal shala opened saving bank account of 35 students in Apana Bank & Central Bank of India. The government has started DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme for students of municipal schools. Under this scheme, money gets saved into their bank account. On the basis of that money, they received school stuffs.
Rehabilitation of families
Samarth Bharat Vyaspith initiates the rehabilitation of families of students who were living in unhygienic conditions on streets. Now, they have been provided with good, hygienic safe shelter. Viju Mane, a well-wisher of signal shala & citizens of thane gave big financial support for this positive step.
Science exhibition
Every year, signal shala participates in science exhibition at school level held by Thane Municipal Corporation to present the models on the basis of science concepts. Inter school science exhibition held from 8th to 10th December, 2017. Children of singal shala came forward with innovative concept called as ‘smart signal.’ Generally, we see how carelessness and negligence of traffic and signal rules brings chaos and accidents on road. Surprisingly, these children living on streets came forward with practical solutions. ‘Raddi Paper Scrub’&Purushottam Pachpande, Robotics Lab Team helped children to present the ‘smart signal project’.
Akshaypatra
Thane municipal Corporation along with Iskon, a private social organisation planned ‘akshaypatra’, an initiative to provide nutritious lunch for underprivileged sections of society. Now, this scheme is also started in ‘signal shala’.
Self-reliant Shankar
On 25th January, 2017, unfortunately, Shankar Balu Pawar had major damage to his right leg in accident while crossing the road. Under guidance of Dr. Medha bhave & Dr.Subodh Mehta, a major surgery & treatment successfully done in both Param Hospital & Hospital Subodh Mehta. After recovery period of nine months, Shankar is able to walk independently.

We received a letter from Congress President Rahul Gandhi thane branch of congress party on 9th August, 2018. He conveyed his message & praised about efforts of signal shala taking for educational rights of underprivileged children.
Unique Diwali festival at Singal School
On 3rd November, 2017, Signal Shala celebrated Diwali fest. The main attraction of this Diwali fest is inauguration of modern science lab, new classes & signal shala banks Counter . This Diwali become more delicious with the feast of melody music, worship of Saraswati goddess etc. This was next successful step of signal shala after writing and reading level success stories.
Diwali Festival
On 26th October, 2019, like every year, Diwali festival celebrated to light up the dark world of underprivileged children. What was the special this time? The students of Signal Shala, presented their ideas & full-fledged capacity through the concept ‘collage of future’. There was exhibition planned and held by students. An interesting activity of puzzle solving was there for all audience to make the programme more interesting. In exhibition, some projects also there on topics like ‘Best from waste’, ‘great bath Facility in harappan culture’ , ‘uses of clay material etc. Another attraction of Diwali festival was visit of eminent personalities like Bhau Kadam, Kushal badrike, Atul todankar, Viju mane and Abhijit Panse. This opportunity brought open talks with artist Bhau Kadam, Kushal Badrike & Atul todankar.
Bus service
families Rehab to Rental Home from teen hat Naka Bridge to Kalwa Area. Due to the rehab , it was bit difficult for students to come in school in time. Around 18-20 students were coming from Kalwa. Firstly, their parents hesitated to send their children due to long distance. Thus immediately, on 26th November, 2018, signal shala started bus services to save their time. This facility also benefited to increase the number of regular coming students.
Redcliff CBSE School, marathon
On 2nd December 2017, Redcliff CBSE School organised cyclothon & skating under marathon. On this occasion, the fund gathered for marathon was given to the signal shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspith. This time, Lalita Babar, an Indian runner was present to motivate the participants.
‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book publication ceremony
The amazing journey from begging to learning, under bridge ‘ghosts’ to robotics,container class to modern school is shown through this ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’ book on 23rd December, 2018. This contains nearby twenty articles on different projects and educational experiments held in signal school along with essays, poems & drawings of students. Well known eminent personalities like Abhijit Panse, Ankush Chaudhari, Ajit Parab, Atul Parchure, Viju Mane, Shirish latkar& Jayant Pawar were present at publication ceremony. Abhijit Panse is honorary editor and Viju Mane, Shirish latkar, Jayant Pawar, Dr.Vijaya Wad, Kaushal Inamdar &Kushal badrike are guest editor of ‘Mukkam Post Teen Hat Naka’.
Science Exhibition, Dombivali
Students of Signal shala took participation in science exhibition organised by General Education Institute Dadar, Marathi Vidnyan Parishad, Thane Division & Kalyan- Dombivali Municipal Corporation. This exhibition organised from 5th to 6th January, 2019 at S. V. Vidyasankul, Dombivali. Under the guidance of prof. Balasaheb Khollam, student presented the experiment of conversion of sea water into the fresh drinkable water with the help of solar energy. This project received 7th rank at state level competition.
Ground Making
Playground is an indivisible part of School life. In the first week of January, playground was ready for games like kabaddi, kho-kho, langadi etc.
Project of Agriculture
On 9th February, 2019, agriculture project started to give basic education of agriculture which plays major role in Indian Economy and Diet. Every Saturday, volunteers of Cognizant Company come in Signal shala to teach lessons of agriculture to students.
Raigad trip
In the third academic year of signal shala, Raigad trip was memorable event in the timeline of signal shala. The happiness & curiosity was doubled since preparation for the trip. On 16th February, 2019, all students & teachers enjoyed trip with great enthusiasm.
Counselling of mother parent
Why we need counselling of mother parent? In the underprivileged sections of society, lack of literacy, poverty, female foeticide, more hands to run family lead to lack of family planning. In poverty, due to major misconceptions & superstitions, they don’t have proper family planning which spread more poverty again. To stop this vicious cycle, we focus on basic important step i.e. counselling of mother parent. Accordingly, operation of mothers took place after having child in March, 2019. Time to time, we also organised necessary sessions on healthy lifestyle, hygiene & menstruation cycle. Now, Mrs Supriya Karnik has come forward to lead this initiative and counsel the mother parents.
Annual Exam
The result of academic year 2018-19 was declared on 2nd may, 2019 at school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation. The very positive outcome is all students passed the exam successfully.
Internship of Mohan
10th passed student of Signal shala, Mohan Prabhu Kale is now completing his further education in diploma in engineering at Rustamji Academy for Global Careers. The next part of this success story is, he completed his two month internship at Tech Mahindra company in Pune which was started from 3rd May, 2019.
Atul Pawar, Photography training
The Photo Circle Society organised photography workshop from 11th may to 12th may for 6 hours on both days i.e. from 10am to 4pm at Thane kalabhavan, kapurwadi. They taught about handling of camera and detail information. Our 9thstd Student, Atul Jalandar Pawar took participation in this workshop and also successfully completed further training of photography.
Bhel making activity
On 24thMarch, 2019 & 11th May, 2019, Bhel making activity was arranged under the concept of ‘value of cooperation & togetherness’. In this activity, all students made bhel with maintaining the quality and quantity from self-cleanliness to the cleanliness of place. On this occasion, award ceremony also organised to award the best performers of the year. Everyone enjoyed the ceremony while taking the taste of both bhel & award.'
Unique Gopalkala for strong bond making
Every year, on the occasion of Gopalkala, there is ‘PustakHandi’ programme. Every year we maintain quality & uniqueness of programme. In this activity, students enjoy the extra book reading. We are in mainstream of education that credit goes to the society who shows the path of equality & unity. On this occasion, we expressed gratitude for the supporting society. On 1st September, 2018, student along with teachers visited local police station and other local administrative officers.
Material resources at signal school
On 9th June 2019, there was an inauguration of material facilities at school. On this occasion, Bari Rasin, Dr.Ashesh Ganguli, Nilesh Puranik, Govind Khetan of Rotari Club of Thane Hills were present. This helped to make school facilitated by necessary material resources to assist progress.
Admission of Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale
On 17th June 2019, 6thstd students of signal shala, Sameer Pawar & Kiran Kale got admission in Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To make children capable & bring them in the mainstream of education is the main aim of our Signal Shala. To achieve this target we took next step to do admission of both students in Sarswati Vidya Mandir School so that their confidence of learning at any school will increase. Both students passed the entrance exam of Sarswati Vidya Mandir. They got more than 50% in exam. From the academic year 2018-19, they continued their educational education in new school i.e. Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. To see this success, we got help of Shree. Suresh Dighe, a trusty of school.
Robotics Science
Purushottam Pachpande, Founder of robotics Lab, took session of robotics science at Signal Shala. Firstly we arranged these sessions for secondary division on every Friday. All students enjoyed the session as this type of session found very interesting to them. We have started this session at school to make children familiar & knowledgeable about running technology in this era.
Group discussion
Group discussion is one of study technique which helps to understand the subject in every aspect. By understanding its importance, we made groups of students to have group discussion on different study subjects E.g. While studying Geography, students asked queries about planetary system, & universe, colours of planets, human species etc further, they asked about rocket technology. It is explicit that no doubt all children have the curiosity and enthusiasm to know more and more about subjects. Group discussion helps to nurture the qualities of listening & courage to ask question. Therefore, we have initiated this activity at signal shala.
The result of academic year 2018-19
The annual result declared on 28th April 2018. All students passed the exam successfully. Mohan Kale &Dasharath Pawar, passed the 10th std Exam. Mohan & Dasharath passed the exam with 76% & 65% respectively. Now, Mohan is taking diploma degree in engineering whereas Dasharath is taking his further education in art stream. Dasharath’s dream is to become a police officer so simultaneously he is taking police training along with study of BA.

Independence Day & Republic Day
15th August 2016 marked as a day of educational revolution & true freedom of children of Signal School. The children who are selling paper made Indian flags on road are now able to hold their own educational flag for their bright future to prepare themselves for the country. Children worshiped the image of flag. This is how, every time, we celebrate Independence Day & Republic Day at Signal Shala.
Inauguration of Signal Shala
On 19th August 2016, there was an inauguration of signal shala run by Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth. Inauguration of signal shala was done successfully in the presence of mayor Sanjay More, vice mayor Rajendra Sapte, commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, senior corporator Milind Patankar, Vikas Repale, Namrata Bhosale & Signal Shala family.
Varsha Marathon, thane
On Sunday, 28th August 2016, varsha marathon was organised at 7am in front of TMC building. Students of signal shala participated in varsha marathon of thane. This was the first ever experience of students to participate in this marathon. Viju mane &SantoshJuvekar also participated in marathon to encourage the students.
Cleanliness Campaign – Human chain
On 23 October 2016, students of signal shala participated in ‘My Thane, Beautiful Thane’ organised by PM Clean India Campaign. Being a part of campaign, students were also delivering the message of cleanliness to others.
Meet with respected BabasahebPurandare
On 27th December 2016, a speech of BabasahebPurandare was organised by Ashwamedh Pratisthan of Mayuresh Joshi in Thane. Students of signal shala participated in this programme. They got a golden opportunity to do shivaarati & also received blessings of eminent personality BabasahebPurandare.
Inauguration Nursery
After the eight to nine Month experience, we realised the necessity of Balwadi at Signal Shala to stop habit of parents to send their younger children on roads for begging. On the holy occasion of Gudipadwa (28th March 2017), Inauguration of balwadi was successfully done in the presence of commissioner Sanjeev Jayswal, mayor Minakshi Shinde, corporator Naresh Mhaske, education officer Urmila Paradhe, Kiran shelar, an editor of Mumbai Tarun Bharat newspaper & members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth & signal shala team.
The first ever platform for students
On the background of children’s day, students of signal shala gave performances at acharya Atre katta. This programme was organised on 16th November 2018 by ‘Acharya atre sanskrutik mandal’ for children’s day special.
Women’s day special
On 8th March 2017, we showed the short film on the life & work of MalalaYusufzai. We also gave the introduction of MalalaYusufzai to the students & their mothers. We also provided the session on awareness regarding menstrual cycle to mothers. This is how in innovative way we successfully celebrated the women’s day.
VirJijamataUdyan visits
On 6th June 2017, with the help of Abhijit Chavan, educational visit was arranged for children at Vir Jijamata Udyan & Siddhivinayak temple. They got an opportunity to see wild animals at rani bag, bhaiklhala. Interestingly, they were so happy to see humbolt penguin bird.
Yoga day
Every year we celebrated Yoga day at signal school on International Yoga Day i.e. 21st June. Swati Mudumvar, a yoga teacher, mallakhamb teacher & other sports teacher gave guidance to children about yoga & exercises. On that day, children were learning about how yoga, mediation & exercises help to maintain good physical & mental health. The programme ended with Suryanamaskar. Also, all members of Samarth Bharath Vyaspeeth& signal shala team took active participation.
Gurupornimautsav
On the occasion of Gurupornima, we celebrated completion of academic year of signal shala & Gurupornima. On this day, we felicitated the 10th passed children of members of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. Students of TMC ( Mumbra) performed the miming show on the topics military & major problems of India.
Rainy trip – visit to FulpakharuUdyan
On 20th August 2017, with the help of DhanashreeNandgavkar, first rainy trip was planned at fulpakharuudyan in Ovalekarwadi. All students enjoyed the watching butterflies and greenery in rainy season.
Cultural programmes
Every year, Education division of TMC organised cultural programmes at school level. This time programme held at TMC Dagadi School, charai. Our students of signal shala also took participation in this cultural programme. The students were doing dance practice on folk song ‘vitthalvitthal’ for continuous 15 days rigorously under the guidance of Sadhana Tai.
Bhondala
Every year, bhondla&rasagarba are celebrated on the occasion of Navaratra. Students stood around bhodhla elephant in the ring form and walk in circle by chanting ‘ eklimboojhelubai, don limboojhelu. The bhondla programme started by worship of sarswati image on slate. All students enjoyed the rasagraba, bhondla & khirapat, a feast of the day. Their happy & smiley faces were saying how much they enjoyed this cultural programme.
Govar-Rubella vaccination
After polio free India, government put next target of govar-rubella free India. Thus, on 1st December 2018, we took our students of signal shala in,school no. 18, Thane Municipal Corporation for the vaccination. Total 38 children were vaccinated there.
Swami Vivekananda daud
Every year we celebrate 12th January, a birthdate of Sami Vivekananda as a national youth day. ‘Vivekananda daud jagar yuvashakticha – sanman strishakticha’ was organised with the help of Bhagini Nivedita Utkarsha Mndal. The students of signal shala also participated in this daud (running race).
Science Day
On 28th February 2019, students of signal shala celebrated science day with an enthusiasm. Some of the students gave presentation on scientific concepts &science experiments in front of other remaining students. Suman Shevale gave guidance throughout the process. Rangapanchami & workshop on natural colour
First, student received the training of natural colour making under the guidance of Ulhas Karle. They learned from the demonstration how to make colours like red, yellow, saffron, white, blue, purple by adding liquid colours into the organic powder. On Wednesday, 20th March 2019, all students enjoyed environment friendly rangapanchami by using handmade colours. This was a unique celebration.
Roti day
What’s this concept about? With a social awareness, there is a food donation programme for needy people of the society. On 1st March, Roti day was celebrated with the help of Viju Mane.
Signal school ‘SangeetRajani’
Amitraje and Pancham group held a programme ‘Aatirahengibahare’ which includes some old & new hindi marathi songs at placeGadakarirangayatan, thane on 17th June 2019.This programme was organised in the viewpoint of fund collection for signal shala& get together of well-wishers of signal shala. Supriyakarnik of school had taken the whole responsibility on their shoulder. The programme was successful with the support of Janatasahakari bank ltd.
Health check-up day
We observed that while teaching some student’s hands most of the times go towards back & legs. Why were they so irritated? The simple answer is living on streets in totally unhygienic conditions made them unhealthier. Most of the students were facing itching, skin allergy & random fever. On the serious note, Signal shala decided to conduct health check-ups at least once in two months. The first health check-up conducted under guidance of Dr. Medha Bhave & Dr.Parul on 21st June 2016. Accordingly, in four years, we conducted 7 primary health check-ups, 3 dental check-ups, 1 eye check-up & 2 vaccinations as per need.The necessary tablets & medicines also provided time to time.
Visit to KidZania
On 11th July, 2019, along with students of Balsnehalaya, our students of signal shala visited KidZania at R City mall in Ghakopar. They enjoyed the real experience of different fields like police, fire brigade centre, doctor, dabbevala, trekking and beautician. They liked thisactivity based education. This day was one of the memorable days in their life.
Ashadhi Ekadashi
Every year, students of signal shala pray to the god vitthal. In first year, students did ‘Aksharwari’ & in next year, students celebrated ‘vrukshadindi’ & ‘pustakdindi’. Through ‘vrukshadindi, they gave message of tree planting to save the environment. They also gifted tulasi plant to the people. This initiative received a very positive response.
Signal Shala Marathon
On 21st July 2019, ‘Road Runners’ organisation held a marathon for financial support to the signal shala. It was planned at VasantVihar club house, Thane. So many citizens of thane participated in the marathon. All students & teachers of signal shala were present at this place.
Bird’s journey
On 22nd August 2019, Green Works Trust & Ses foundation organised a programme on bird’s journey under the title ‘stories of bird’. Prof Balasaheb Khollam did all the planning of the programme. Krupa Patil & their team delivered a session on birds in a very easy & creative way to the children. They gifted 50 copies of book ‘Birds of Maharashtra’ to our signal shala.
Awareness about ‘menstrual cycle’
Signal shala started campaign for females to know about importance of care taken in days of periods. In the lead of Amruta Mishra (supporter at signal shala), we conducted the programme on 28th August 2019. Dr. ShobhanaNayar&Amruta Mishra gave guidanceto both daughters & their mother through audio-visual medium.
Visit of education minister
On 12th January 2017, honorary education minister of state, VinodTawade visited our signal shala. He had conversation with students of signal shala. He expressed his belief & said, “Do hard work for bright future, work with energy, government is with you.”
Visit of wrestler Sangram Singh
On 8th August 2017, Sangram Singh, a wrestler visited to signal shala. Students come to know the Indian wrestler who represents our India at international level.
Visit of Pravin Ghuge, head of child right commission
On 19th July 2018, PravinGhuge, head of child right commission gave visit to Signal shala. He talked with students, parents & teacher to know the problems. On this day, deputy commissioner of TMC Manish Joshi, education minister UrmilaPardhe& founder of ‘Samatol’ foundation Vijay Jadhav, AaratiNemane&other activists were also present.
Human Resource Development Mantralay, Delhi
On 16th October 2018, volunteers of social organisation adjacent with Human Resource Development Mantralay, Delhi visited to signal shala.
Visit to Burns & Macdonald Company
On 11th January 2019, Students of signal shala got golden opportunity to visit the Burns & Macdonald Company. Students enjoyed the games & educational documentary film. On 9th January 2019, the foreign volunteers gave visit to the Burns & Macdonald Company. At that time, sport fest was going on in Signal shala. Thus, volunteers were happy to see performance of students in the field of sports & they gave their best wishes to the bright future of the children.
Visit of Bharat Watvani, a Raman Magsaysay awardee
A Raman Magsaysay awardee & senior social worker Dr. Bharat Watvani gave visit to the signal Shala. He expressed his expectation & belief to make this project & educational experiment as an ideal model of education by the government.
Visit of Dr. Salim Beharni &Dr. Mari
On 3rd April 2019, Dr. Salimbeharni (Canada) & Dr. mari along with activist of signal shala Susmita Sonavane & Nilesh Sonavane gave visit to the signal Shala.
Visit of the students of Saint Thomas School, Kerala
On 22nd May 2019, five students & two teachers from Kerala ( A state with a 100% literacy rate) visited to know more about Signal shala. To study the different educational experiments carried out outside of Kerala is the main motive of their visit.
Achievements & awards
The first annual exam of students
The first annual exam on the bases of school syllabus was dated from 5th April to 14th April in 2017. This was the first time in their life, students of signal shala were giving annual exam & they were able solve it. On 29th April 2019, signal shala scored 99% result in annual exam. Total 18 students sat for exam. 17 students passed the annual exam conducted by education department of TMC. One student couldn’t able to pass the exam due to some certain reason.
‘Aamhi Siddhi ShikshanGauravPuraskar’ 2016-17
Signal Shala of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth received an award ‘Aamhi Siddhi ShikshanGauravPuraskar’ 2016-17 in the programme arranged on the occasion of completion of a decade for the work of ‘Sidhi Friends Publication’, a cultural platform.
Declaration of ‘Samaj mitra Puraskar’ award
The role of signal shala of Samarth Bharat Vidyapeeth to take stand for the educational rights of children living at signal area was appreciated by DombivaliNagariSahakari Bank by declaring an award ‘SamajmitraPuaskar.
Announcement of CM at Assembly
In winter session of assembly, the CM declared an assurance of study of ‘Signal Shala’ educational pattern on state level. Further he also showed trust on the effectiveness of educational model of ‘signal shala’ on different issues to be solved like decreasing enrolment number, educational problems of migrated people, children outside of school etc.
Super Mumbaikar Award
On 12th November 2017, Mrs. ShraddhaDandavate, a teacher at signal shala received ‘Super Mumbaikar Award’ declared by 91.9 radio FM channel. SumanShevale, a teacher at signal shala was also present there.
Declaration of ‘YugantarPuraskar’ on the state level
Every year ‘the institute of leadership & governance’, Maharaja Sayajirao University announces an honorary award ‘YugantarPuraskar’. In 2019, this year, Signal Shala is awarded by ‘YugantarPuraskar’ &BhatuSawant CEO of Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth received a ‘Youth Hero’ award. PM NarendraModi has given their best wishes & appreciation to the work of Signal Shala run by Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth. In front of youth, signal shala is one of the ideal innovative educational models.
Selection in Antodyay Scheme
On 23rd July 2019, Signal Shala, an educational model is selected as DindayalUpadhyayAntodyay best practice by cultural department of central government. Our project is selected in 200 selected projects out of 1000 projects from 35 states.
